Why? Most of the content on the Sirius/XM channel is recorded, which would fit the definition of a podcast.Stern would rather retire than do a podcast.

He’s just always seemed to badmouth podcasts in the past and look down on the idea of doing one. Why? Most of the content on the Sirius/XM channel is recorded, which would fit the definition of a podcast.
Understood. To your point, I can't really fault him for that either.Stern would rather retire than do a podcast.
He also used to badmouth other hosts who kept working past their prime. He’s just always seemed to badmouth podcasts in the past and look down on the idea of doing one.
Is there anybody he hasn't badmouthed? He also used to badmouth other hosts who kept working past their prime.
It's a small fraternity. I'd guess that Mel Karmazin is in it, having rescued Howard from himself a couple of times. Is there anybody he hasn't badmouthed?
Jim Kerr, he was on his show last year to mark Jim’s 50th year on the air in NYC:Is there anybody he hasn't badmouthed?
A lot of audio is recorded. Does that make it a podcast. Radio shows are recorded. Are they podcasts. Why? Most of the content on the Sirius/XM channel is recorded, which would fit the definition of a podcast.
Yes, often after they air.Radio shows are recorded. Are they podcasts.
Most of us consider a podcast to be content available "on demand". That means it starts when you want it to, not when the provider runs it on a schedule.A lot of audio is recorded. Does that make it a podcast. Radio shows are recorded. Are they podcasts.
Howard has changed with the times in several ways. He once insisted he had to be in the same studio with his guests to get them to open up. But since the Pandemic, he does his show from his home, Robin is at her home and others, including guests, are in their own location. Only a major guest like Bruce Springsteen will get Stern to the Sirius XM studios.
Rachel Maddie’s been having in-studio guests for interviews. Because her show is only one day a week, at least some of her shows must be taped in the studio at Rockefeller Center or away from her home. And should I mention how many cable TV news stars do their shows from their homes? I watch MSNBC and can tell when the host is home or in the studio. At home, their backdrop is one dimensional. And there are never any guests or other participants at their desk. When they are in the studio, there are establishment shots at the beginning of segments to show the host is in front of a real backdrop and others are at their table too. The camera slowly zooms in when they are in the studio. The camera in their home is stationary.
I'd say a few days a week, Morning Joe is in Scarborough's Connecticut garage. I don't think Rachel Maddow ever comes to the studio except for things like Election Night and the State of the Union Speech. She's in Western Massachusetts. Lawrence O'Donnell admits he's in LA, although I'm not sure if that's his home or an NBC studio.
Years before the Pandemic, Rush Limbaugh decided to work from his West Palm Beach mansion's basement. No need to brave cold NYC winters to go to the WABC studios. Sean Hannity followed suit and I assume also does his Fox News Channel show there. Mark Levin began doing his show from his home, all before Covid 19.
She's 98. What would you think it is?What is the condition of his mother?
He always mentions her on the show. I wonder if this is what the delay is.She's 98. What would you think it is?
Any of us who've been through the end stage of a parent's live have some level of empathy for Howard, whether or not you're a fan of his professional shtick. It is brutal.
Yes, I’m an only child so there was no one to share the load when my mom passed away. Add to that divorce and a career change. It’s a wonder I’m alive. She's 98. What would you think it is?

People have retired (or taken extended leaves of absence) when caring for an older parent. Not only can it be time consuming but it can be intellectually and emotionally exhausting. She's 98. What would you think it is?

There aren't a lot of good choices. Unless you're independently wealthy, you either do it yourself, or a sibling or other close relative takes the lead, or you negotiate a time-share arrangement, or you pay someone to be their health aide until that no longer works. Or you find assisted living or a nursing home, depending on their condition and your family's finances. When there's no other choice, somebody's got to be on site or running back and forth. No matter which option you (and your family, if you have one) pick, it is exhausting, draining, expensive, infuriating (at times) and depressing (always). And as you go through the experience, I doubt anyone hasn't had the thought, "I wonder if anyone will step up for me when my time comes."People have retired (or taken extended leaves of absence) when caring for an older parent.
