Rumor: Perry Laurentino out at 680/The Fan

I hear from a good source that Colin Cowherd's nationally syndicated radio show "The Herd" will take over Monday for Perry Laurentino, who reportedly turned down an offer to join the Rude/Dukes morning show. It's a little late now to call anybody at the Fan to confirm yet. I'll check Sunday.

A real stupid decision by PL.

David Dickey?

If they air a nationally syndicated show I will stop listening. Period.

David wouldn't confirm or deny the above rumor but said he is making some changes and will tell me tomorrow. We'll see what happens.

And I tune out Reiley and never listen to them on the weekend cause I know their normal people are just doing 5 minute remotes. What infomercials? LOL
______________

Not really surprising. Perry never sounded comfortable by himself and they never put much effort into finding a sidekick.

Golly. What a disappointment.

I would much rather hear an Olive Garden busboy host a talk show, rather than a nationally syndicated talk show host from ESPN.

It's true: Perry's show replaced by ESPN talker// ESPN Spanish talk radio added on 1340

Perry Laurentino is off 10 a.m.- 1p.m., David Dickey of the Fan confirmed.
He has indeed replaced it with "The Herd." His argument is that many folks who move to Atlanta want to hear sports from a national perspective. He will keep local morning and afternoon drivetime. He is considering Perry on either of those shows while Perry is under contract (through October.)

He is turning 1340 into an ESPN Spanish sports talk station starting October 3.

I've heard Colin Cowherd's show, and I'm not really impressed.Looks like a lateral move-bad show for bad show. Chris Dimino should pick up some new listeners, including me. Even with the Thrashers,I wouldn't be surprised if a format change eventually took place.

Most of the market's Hispanic population is in Cobb and Gwinnett, neither of which is well covered by the 1340 signal. But I guess he feels he has a better chance of selling advertising if he has Atlanta's only Spanish sports station.

National perspective? Does he know anything about the Atlanta market? Any syndicated show here has bombed, unless it originates here. ESPN has crashed here before and will die again, The Herd is a horrible show.

I dont care how much kincaide bitches, more people want to hear about college football than who the Flyers signed to a contract. I am sure that they are just trying to move it to where they have some kind of hockey talk since they are the Thrashers station. Face it the only thing more boring than watching hockey is talking about it on the radio. We have the worst sports stations in the country first 790 shoots itself in the foot and now 680 does the same.

Its a shame really cause I used to really like 680 and the mid-morning show on 790.
______________
