Rumor: Regis to WFSB Dr Phil Back to WTNH?

Necrat said:
It appears according to TitanTV.com that WWLP has replaced Regis and Kelly with The Today show running the full 7a-11a continuous.

They're also running an hour and a half of paid programming every day now. 11-11:30 a.m. (followed by a Friends lead-in for their noon news), then 2:00 to 3:00p.m.

I'm surprised no one has seen this yet... Saturday. I was stuck at a relatives place fixing her computer, and WTNH aired a promo saying Dr. Phil was coming to My9 in September, so all rumors true, almost.

Actually, I just got the scoop. Through an e-mail, I found out that "Dr. Phil" will be once again acquired by WTNH and will be shared between WTNH and WCTX. It will air on WTNH weekday mornings at 9AM (so basically Regis and Kelly and Phil are flipping stations and both keeping the 9AM hour) and it will air again at 6PM on WCTX. So that should clear up any questions on the two shows). This is confirmed, as it comes from the programming director of both stations).

Is there a compelling reason why they would air the same show on 2 different channels (same owner) in the same market? Is it purely cost-cutting?

IMHO, WCTX is a waste of a signal. WTNH isn't much better, save having the ABC affiliation.

Other markets same thing. In Boston it's WBZ and WSBK with Dr. Phil. I don't watch Dr. P so I don't know if the 6PM run on WCTX is the same one that aired that morning on WTNH, I do know that WTXX has the primary run of TYRA at 5PM and sister WTIC-TV has the secondary run at 230AM. (Different episode).

Just making this post to make the changes clearer:

Changes at WCTX/59:

12 Noon Trival Pursuit
1230PM King of Queens
5PM Scrubs
6PM Dr. Phil

Changes at WSHM/67 (CBS 3 Springfield)

6AM Better
9AM Regis & Kelly
10AM 700 Club*
4PM Eyewitness News at 4
430PM Inside Edition

*The 700 Club is a hold-over from when WSHM used to be a Trinity Broadcast Network repeater.

Changes at WWLP/22

9AM Today Show (Hour 3 Live)
10AM Today Show (Hour 4 Live)
11AM Infomercial
1130AM Friends
2PM Infomercials
3PM Dr. Phil

WSBK is giving up "Dr. Phil" at 8PM weeknights (thank goodness) this fall for "Law and Order: SVU".
