Rumor: V-103 Hires Al B. Sure for Quiet Storm

Al B. Sure of course is the singer whose big crossover hit was "Nite & Day" in 1988.

I heard this rumor from a source I consider reliable, but it's still second hand. The Quiet Storm (10PM-2AM) slot on V-103 has been jockless since longtime host Joyce Littel was let go early this year.

Well, it is sensible considering he has worked as a radio personality on air for a number of years. Though I figured Osei would be a good fit for the timeslot.

Rumor is that Osei will win middays. He and Reggie Rouse are tight. Osei was Reggie's intern at WPGC.

WOW, WOW, WOW! Yeah, I know about Osei & Reggie's track history together at WPGC. Osei interned for Reggie when he was still producer of the Donnie Simpson Morning Show then was placed with Justine Love for the "Love Talk & Slow Jams" show soon after. However, I KNEW was something was really up when Osei told me back in June, he was here to stay this time. Also you haven't heard NADA about anymore auditioning for the midday timeslot @ all since early summer.

That sucks for Ramona DeBreaux and Shay Moore because they were both strong candidates for middays.

Also Roddy, what is up with Bubby Love's absence during the overnights these days? I haven't heard him on air for a couple of weeks during the overnights anymore although he is still listed as the official host for that time. I've heard Luscious (that stripper from Wanda's Playhouse show), former 95.5 the Beat weekender Traci Steele, and other swing shifters doing that slot but not him.

I'm surprised they would have an all-male weekday lineup. I don't know what's up with Bubby Love.

Yeah, wasn't there a threat of a lawsuit back about 3 years ago which led to Osei leaving middays and having Porsche Foxx come back? Also that's the reason why Elle Duncan was placed there after Porsche's abrupt departure in November 2008 instead. I don't know what to say about this considering the station has 3 females full-time on-air during the day (Wanda & Elle in the mornings and Rashan Ali with Ryan in the afternoons), but not one of them are alone holding down their own shift. There might be a curveball in play...

So you all have an allmale line up going on down there, too? And here I was thinking my hometown station was a little odd for doing that. I personally prefer the boy, girl, boy, girl type line up with a mixture of both in the morning.

It's odd to the point that I hope another lawsuit isn't filed again causing another shake up...

Osei is horrible in middays as well as on the mic during the live club broadcast. Whats wrong with putting Ramona in middays? Im sure Radio One would gag! Also, i was thinking of how long it would be before Ryan Cameron moves back to mornings. He's already got the old HOT morning show crew on his afternoon show, Rashan and Akini.

I agree Ramona is a far better jock than Osei. So are Shay Moore and Sytonnia.

Since Ryan came back to V-103, everyone has been saying the morning show will someday be his. And perhaps it will be. But Frank is still there and has signed 2 contracts since Ryan's return. As long as Frank's numbers remain in the stratosphere, the station probably won't want to rock the boat.

Doubt they'll put Ramona Debreaux back on middays in way in Atlanta anytime soon.

Reggie Rouse doesn't want V-103 to become Hot 107.9, so he will mix it up with an old-time favorite of the station or someone new everytime. That's why Frank Ski & Wanda Smith are still in the AM (because they cume a big audience and hold it down across all demographics). Rouse has either personal favorites or crafted talent for middays, which is unfortunate but the fact. I was surprised he has Ramona doing traffic, but apparently she is a full-timer at CBS Radio Atlanta.

After the summer auditions, Shay Moore blew me away with her audition and figured since she is a veteran that she would be a good fit for the new musical rotation that has been dayparted into middays. She held down an UAC in DFW for 5 years as the middayer and APD/MD. But at the end of day, we all know Reggie will put in whomever he feels (like with the choice of Elle Duncan after Porsche Foxx).
