RUMORS? Is Citadel about to end the KWIN/KWNN Simulcast?

Started hearing rumors(AGAIN) that Citadel was going to end the KWIN/KWNN simulcast, changing 98.3 KWNN's format to Classic Country very soon. Anyone hear anything about this? What stations would they really change if they did?

Also heard Entercom would possibly launch a new CHR in San Francisco, possibly going head to head against KYLD and KMVQ?

Wanted to find out if anyone has heard anything about this or if this is all rumour mill.

Thanks

A few years ago, Citadel was considering flipping KWNN-98.3 to ADULT HITS BOB-FM, but KWNN was starting to do better in the ratings and reconsidered it. Right now, KWNN is doing pretty good and is even doing better than KHTN-104,7. And I doubt they would even do CLASSIC COUNTRY as that format is similar to the OLDIES format. It is geared for the Older Demographics that Citadel doesn't want.

If true, it's too bad Citadel could not get the KMIX call letters BACK at 98.3, where it was when
98.3 was Country in the 1980s, no? I believe KMIX is at 100.9 in Tracy, but is Entravision-owned...

I tend to agree witcha, MMS, that Citadel will not make that change, citing the older-demo theory...

Time for me to call K.B. Farr (ret. from KWIN) to see what HE'S heard, however...

Is anything going to be done to 97.7 KWIN???? I wish they would find a different frequency to use. Because their signal completely blankets97.5 KABX's signal north of Manteca. If 97.7 wasn't there, I could pick up 97.5 for sure in Stockton, Lodi, Galt and possibly Elk Grove and South Sac!

and the answer is.... NO. They're never going to end that simulcast. KWIN is a monster, and needs both signals.

I should call that station "K-LOSE." Beacuse I lose when listening to 97.5 when north of Manteca.
A good alternative to KABX-97.5 is KCCL-92.1 also known as K-HITS. I actually like the blend of music they play (Time Range: 1964-1979) and its mix of ROCK, POP and R&B. They play Elvis, Beatles, Stevie Wonder, Blood Sweat and Tears and Peter Paul and Mary. They are the first station in years where I have heard PUFF THE MAGIC DRAGON, THE YELLOW SUBMARINE and DISCO DUCK on Standard OTA Radio. I don't know where you live but I live in Extreme Northwest Stockton Near EIGHT MILE ROAD and INTERSTATE 5. And K-HITS 92.1 comes in very CLEAR!!!
