Rumors of format flip in Vegas

Friends of mine inside the Clear Channel Las Vegas building are saying rumors are swirling about a format flip for 95-5 KWNR. Any truth here? Any one else hear anything about that? After they fired their last full-time live personality last week, I guess it would make sense.

I think THEY see the writing on the wall! Sorry, I've been up since 3am.

By the way, I know it's been awhile since I've posted 25-54 and 18-34 ratings for ya'll to see. I'll try and get those up tomorrow from the April book that came out today.

At the very least, they have to be concerned that one-third of their audience has gone away in just a years time in P 25-54. Also, in W 25-54 - a very important Country demo - Coyote has won it 5 months, KWNR one month, and they tied another.

Considering they cut their commercials down to just 5 an hour from 9a-5p and still lost in Women and are down 33% year to year, it must be on someone's radar.

Is there a hole for the Gen-X format CC has rolled out in several markets?

Of course, they could continue with country... run it as cheap as they possibly can (which they already seem to be doing)... sell it in combo with their other LV stations... and not let Beasley have country all to themselves. If KWNR changes format, most of that audience would go to Coyote, probably putting them in the top 5 12+.

I like that Gen-X format they've rolled out in numerous markets. It could fill the void that JACK-FM left. 80's/90's rock has always done well in Vegas. Plus, KOMP and Point need a competitor.
