Lots of talk over on the Chattanooga Radio Message Board (www.chattanoogaradioforum.com) about a possible impending format flip. The big rumour is that Bahakel is flipping AAA WDOD "96-5 the Mountain" to a CHR format with the syndicated Kidd Kraddick show for mornings. The rumour is that the flip will go down on Monday, March 3rd.
Should be interesting if this happens. It would be Chattanooga's first 100kw CHR station in nearly 20 years. And it would fill a big hole left in the market when Clear Channel flipped CHR WKXJ "Kiss FM" last year to classic country. Personally, I think it would be a good move for Bahakel. While I like the AAA format, it has always seemed like a waste of a good class C 100kw stick. I think a more broad appeal format like CHR or Hot AC would be a smart decision. Anyway, should be interesting to see if it comes to pass and what it sounds like. Anybody else heard anything?
