Rumoured FCC mandate 24 hr staffing

Anyone know if the FCC gets its way and forces stations to be manned 24/7 how that will affect Rhode Island Radio.
Now, the way I understand it is something like this.
An over night guy on WSNE qualifies for B101,Hjj and HJY being covered. You dont a person with each station but a body in the building. It can be a Jock, security guard,board-op,etc
How is the Fcc planning on inforcing this rule?Random phone calls to stations at 1 am?

Does the Buzzy The Bee outfit count as a person if no one's in it? Prop it up at the window & the FCC will drive right by.

Ok, little fantasy ad here........Buzzy the Bee takes on long time R.I. Favorite, the Big Blue Bug in the "Biggest Bug Blow Out Wrestling Match" to ever hit Providence......... :D :D :D

I really wish someone would burn down that g*****n termite. It's embarrassing.

I would assume that they just want 1 person in the building who know what to do with the EBS system and stuff, some type of board op who checks all the stations in the cluster once an hour or something.

A good example....think back to the Station Fire....if they didn't have someone in the building (the whole thing started as the 11pm news was starting (11:08pm)....most of the night jocks were gone from the stations (as they had probably voicetracked their last 2 hours)....The only person in the clusters was probably a board op checking on the stations who had to call the news staffs in (Bill Haberman at Pro....I forget if WHJJ had already outsourced the in house staffs to Metro or not at that time).

I don't know for sure at this point (J buff can probably attest) if there is someone in the building 24/7; but my expectation would be yes, there is

Not sure, but there are silence sensors that will do that. The one at my station calls the studio hotline first, then the PD, APD, and CE in that order if no one answers. Some have built-in audio storage on CD or flash card that will fill in case of dead air. It's also easy to take a contact closure from your silence sense to trigger a CD player.

Is it possible for Prophet Next Gen, Enco or any other system to page the PD or Chief Engineer if the system goes of the air?

Wha...? This is the first I've heard of this. Can you cite a reference, please?

Its just that- rumors. Nothing is official yet, it was actually on the scroller thing at the top there for acouple days. It seems to have disappeared now, so who knows.
