Proceeds go to the children of fallen Marines, I believe.

" As winning bidder, you get:
- The original and infamous "Harry Reid Smear" letter, signed by 41 Democat senators
- The Halliburton briefcase in which this letter is secured 24 hours a day
- A personal letter of thanks from the Man Who Runs America, Rush Limbaugh" etc.

If Mark Mays, Clear Channel CEO, gave the original copy of the letter that he received from Sen Harry Reid (D-NV) to Limbaugh, -- which was signed by 40 other Senators -- Mays and Clear Channel are in deep doodoo.

Legal or not it is a pretty sad commentary on an individual when he feels himself so powerful he can thumb his nose at 40 representatives of the american people. Or does Rush think those 40 do not and only he does? the letter means nothing....the callous disrespect for democracy and governance does.

The callous disrespect for democracy and governance was to bring business on the Hill to a grinding halt to take the words of a talk show host out of context and try to castigate him from the floor of the Senate.

Sherrod Brown might have signed that letter...and he might be one of my state's US senators. But he certainly did NOT speak for me when he put his name on that letter.

Rush's words were in context, he went back and re-edited what he said, luckily the internets got him on tape and he can only trick his true beleivers. I guess the hill grinding to a halt the week before to chastise Move-On. org was okey dokey huh? I thought shutting down the governmant is just what conservatives wanted. The "out of context" bull roar is getting old. Rush should have said he misspoke, clarified his remarks and moved on (so to speak...). Either Rush is to much of a coward to admit a mistake or it wasn't a mistake and Rush truly feels that soldiers who oppose the war when they return are traitors. Or maybe it's just Rush trying to get some media attention and couldn't give a rat's hind quarters either way.

Why?

Wouldn't it be funny if a Liberal ended up being the highest bidder?

I am sure Rush would find a way to eventually pronounce "You sucker! Ha, Ha. We got you now!"

How nuts do you have to be to spend 2.1 million yen...never mind dollars to buy a letter that has no long term intrinsic value? Rush is no scholar and certainly no statesman and hardly Shakespeare. Might as well take the money out on the street and burn it.

The money is going to charity. How nuts do you have to be to donate money to a worthy cause?

22 seconds to go...
the bid is $2,100,100.00

AUCTION HAS ENDED

To the comment of how nuts you have to be to give money to a worthy cause I respectfully paraphrase my departed Father who always allowed that a gift given publicly is done so only to enrich the giver...and the receiver just happens to be there at the moment. One should give anonymously.

The letter means $4.2 million for college education to the kids of a parent who was killed in the line of duty (police or military). Perhaps that simply means nothing to you? Rush did a good thing. And Rush should thumb his nose at those jerks. Go look up the names 'Jesse Adam Macbeth' and ' Scott Thomas Beauchamp.' Phony soldiers extraordinaire. Absolutely disgusting.

It is a nice gesture. You're a real hereo in my book if you can do it without the publicity just because it is the right thing to do.

And which jerk is thumbing his nose at which jerk? I'd argue Rush is no less the jerk than Reid.

Sad, but true.

Talk radio seems to be going the way of the 'honest Congressman'.

The historic value is in a letter signed by 40 senators that condemns an individual citizen. I don't believe that's ever been done before in the history of our country.
