Rush in Portland

The Portland Press Herald has done two localized stories on Rush Limbaugh the past two days and I'm somewhat surprised the reporter for the Press Herald hasn't either asked or been able to find out just how well Rush does in the local ratings. Let's just say that would be the last thing Cary and Saga want the Portland Press Herald finding out because the answer - in just about every demographic group you could imagine - ain't good. Comical actually.

Though something may justify his $50 million salary. Even if ratings here are lackluster he must be clicking somehow. Recently when a suspicious package was sent to his W. Palm Beach mansion,
the address was released to the media and I entered it into google maps and got a bird's eye view of it. It's impressive.
He indeed lost some sponsors, some local, some national; the latest twist is that when West Coast based Sleep Train wanted to come back on board, he REFUSED to take it. Bluster in the hope
of defusing the issue?

>>your public comments were not well received by our audience, and did not accurately portray either Rush Limbaugh's character or the intent of his remarks. Thus, we regret to inform you that Rush will be unable to endorse Sleep Train in the future.

All these conservative talk stations run by Clear Channel, or the shows that Premiere sends out
to any owner, must be kind of profitable. So much so that even if they get lackluster ratings,
CC/Premiere gets to cash some impressive checks and the intent of stations like Talk 1200
is to get the shows cleared. Advertisers want to be heard in Boston, on shows like Beck,
Rush, etc. And in Portland, etc.

And if WGAN wants to dump him, yes there are options like Smerconish and the new Huckabee
show. Who knows, could work out for them. He may be too "expensive" for smaller stations.

As of now, his pic is still on the banner atop http://wgan.com/

Reaction from the WGAN facebook:
--Thanks for standing by your conservative fans!
--Please stop enabling Rush Limbaugh. Thank you.
--Where where the far left dingbats when Bill Maher called Sarah Palin a c*nt? The day of reckoning will come.
--Thanks for NOT submitting to the cyber bullies who are trying to censor free speech. Rush Limbaugh may not be my cup of tea but we need to have an open discussion of issues, not just those that are politically correct. He brings up topics that those on the far left do not want people to know about, let alone talk about. If for that reason alone, he needs to stay on the air.
--Your sponsors are on notice, WGAN. Dump Rush Limbaugh or I will e-mail and boycott any company that pays your station for advertising. Rush Limbaugh is drug addict who has no business judging others when his life is such a mess!

Another post is from someone who likes Stephen King's prog talk station
