Rush Limbaugh, whose national radio career launched at Sacramento station, dies at 70
Limbaugh hosted a talk show on KFBK from 1984 to 1988, but continued to poke fun of one local spot on his nationally syndicated program.
Before Rush went national he started his political talk show career at KFBK Sacramento and his influence in the Sacramento valley before he went to WABC-AM in New York and became national.
KFBK Radio and WABC-AM are stations where the phrase "Rush saved AM Radio" or gave AM Radio New life came from. One Rush came to KFBK after Morton Downey Jr. got removed due to a racist rant and the PR of KFBK was dealing with the fallout of that. Second is WABC-AM because they were looking for success in talk radio after they saw Top 40 in New York move to FM.
