Rush Revere

Rush Limbaugh's new book is #1 on Amazon.

Is that a discussion topic?

Oh, you're proud and/or bragging. Ok.

Thing is, though, that many of Rush's books are more or less just transcripts of his show.

His books will also always go to #1 because legit "authors" don't have a radio show with an audience that will buy whatever is being sold. Same goes for Hannity.

Neither man is well educated, nor are they great writers. They just have these niches that will buy whatever they put out.

You could say the same about many top selling non-fiction books -- a lot of it is just pop info. The books written by actual knowledgeable people, or ones who could realistically call themselves an 'expert' on a subject usually write books that end up buried somewhere in the middle of a shelf in the political or economics section of a bookstore. And they generally aren't best sellers.

It's obvious some people do revere Rush, not that he deserves it.

I wonder who ghosted the book for El Rushbo. *

Revere: To arms. To arms. The British are coming.
SOUND OF SHUTTERS OPENING
Old Lady: Who's there.
Revere: It's Paul Revere.
Old Lady: Sorry, I don't need any pots and pans.
Revere: But, what about the British?
Old Lady: Far as I know they don't need any pots and pans either.

- From Stan Freberg Presents The United States of America Vol. I

PS: Al Franken's "Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot" also made number one.

Talk radio used to cover a lot of subjects, not just politics. When discussing politics why can't it be done on a higher level without cynicism and ridicule? Talk radio in this country is not befitting the greatest nation on earth.

"There is absolutely no evidence to support the statement that we're the greatest country in the world. We're seventh in literacy, twenty-seventh in math, twenty-second in science, forty-ninth in life expectancy, 178th in infant mortality, third in median household income, number four in labor force, and number four in exports. We lead the world in only three categories: number of incarcerated citizens per capita, number of adults who believe angels are real, and defense spending, where we spend more than the next twenty-six countries combined, twenty-five of whom are allies." - Will McAvoy, "The Newsroom" (written by Aaron Sorkin)

But talk radio does befit the US.

Many of those talk radio promoted books are "bulk bought" A political group will buy 100.000 of copies and give them out with memberships to their organization. Drudge sort of fuels the hype, "such and such a book is #1." Mark Levin's book was promoted big time, now the sell for $5 used on eBay. after just a month. I think Rush looked a Savage and Glen Beck and saw that a book is a good way to make a few extra bucks. If you are short on advertisers, develop your own product to sell, Iced Tea, books, neckties, doormats, etc. I new a guy that would make the furniture polish that people would sell. A 55 gallon drum of the stuff a glorified funnel, labels and your in business.

What am I missing here? I followed the RadioDiscussionsRep link and the thread title the rep was used indicated Rush had written a children's book. But I don't see anything here about a book reaching out to an audience of children.

What am I missing here?

Well, actually, Rush wrote at least a couple books some years ago, "The Way Things Ought To Be" and "See, I Told You So." (Now available at your local Goodwill, Salvation Army, St. Vincent's, etc.) This is indeed a kids' book; Mr. L. apparently casting himself as Paul Revere. ("The liberals are coming! The liberals are coming!") I feel sorry for that poor horse...

Ironic, since all of Rush's books are children's books.

The cover alone just makes me say "ewwww"

You should know better than to expect a reasonable discussion about anything Rush Limbaugh says or does on this board.

I'll try to do my best. Couldn't they have at least had Rush Revere smiling on the cover? Looks too serious to be a kids' book.

GR, it is a kid's book....

Rush Revere and the Brave Pilgrims: Time-Travel Adventures with Exceptional Americans

Nationally syndicated radio talk-show host Rush Limbaugh has long wanted to make American history come to life for the children of his listeners, so he created the character of a fearless middle-school history teacher named Rush Revere, who travels back in time and experiences American history as it happens, in adventures with exceptional Americans. In this book, he is transported back to the deck of the Mayflower.

The Rush Revere character was first seen in the ads for Two If By Tea, Limbaugh’s iced tea product.

Well what do you expect when the OP is merely a dubious claim about Rush having a #1 book on Amazon?

Not really a discussion topic, but certainly begging commentary on the nature of the claim and it's relevance...or lack thereof.

Please repeat in English.

Let's read the book, then post.

No thanks, not interested.

I've listened to his show many times during the years, heard his "sermons". He's a "secular" preacher for the GOP/TEA Conservative party. His message is simple [fitting for a man like him - that is simple], the DEMS/Liberal/Progressives are always wrong, are evil incarnate, and they want to destroy America. He even hates FDR, who won 4 terms in the White House [obviously the American public was really duped by FDR's smooth talk in those famous radio Fireside Chats].

To Rush's simple mind, the GOP/TEA/Conservatives are always right and are pure as the driven snow. These views are the same for Hannity/Beck and the rest of the Rush wannabes out there spewing their point of view on the radio each day.

So having heard him, a bunch of times over the years, have no need to read more of the same crap. No party, person, etc, is right 100% of the time nor are wrong 100% of the time. Even Rush is correct sometimes, after all a broken clock is correct twice a day.

But I support YOUR right to listen and read his blather till your heart's content, it is one of our greatest liberties as Americans. Feel free to give him YOUR money and your time. I say no thank you.

Just for the record, I'm a registered Independent. I have voted for both Republicans and Democrats for President during my lifetime. I vote for whom I believe will do the best job for the nation. Sometimes that's a member of the GOP, other times its a DEM.
