This is a surprising move for Hannity. He said some very public, very negative things about Cumulus Radio, and vowed he wouldn't be on any Cumulus stations. That meant last year he left some 50,000 watt stations owned by Cumulus even though his show now airs on weaker facilities. That includes WLS Chicago, WBAP Dallas, WJR Detroit and WMAL-AM-FM Washington, as mentioned above.
So now he returns to a Cumulus station in San Francisco, although on a delay. The odd thing is 910 KKSF is a San Francisco Talk station owned by iHeart. That station could have taken Rush and Hannity. But the goal for KKSF, like KFI Los Angeles, is to be live and local most of the day.
With nine hours of Rush, Hannity and Beck on KSFO, who does that displace on the schedule? I notice whoever did 9 am to Noon is already gone, making way for Rush. The website's schedule simply says "KSFO Talk Show" in that slot. And I guess it's curtains for John Batchelor in the Bay Area, even though his show is owned by Cumulus. His 6 pm to 10 pm slot will be where Hannity and Beck wind up.
And what will KGO do with its overnights? Currently Bloomberg Radio airs weeknights on 810 from 11 pm to 5 am. But when 910 KNEW becomes a full time Bloomberg station, KGO won't be running the same programming. Ditto for Salem-owned 1220 KDOW, unless as mentioned above, that's considered more a San Jose station than San Francisco, allowing KDOW to continue airing Bloomberg programs. Of course, the only reason KDOW airs Bloomberg programs is to give it some legitimacy as a Business station. It's real purpose is to carry brokered money programs the rest of the day.
