Rush: Sterling Was Set Up

As you're aware, finding/creating a successful morning show to compete in the #1 market isn't the easiest programming quest, especially since the Gambling dynasty was still thriving and Imus was actually interesting. And then there was Stern sucking up plenty of AM drive shares as well.

The trouble with Rush has less to do with his politics and his view of the world and more to do with his predictable, humorless presentation. He was just the opposite when Mainelli hired him. It's time for Rush to go before he takes talk radio down with him.

How do you like the John & Ken Moist Line? When they were live on WOR, they taped the Moist Line on Thursday without Shannon Farren and played the tape in LA on Friday. It is much more entertaining live with her.
 
The WABC show was 10-noon. Before the national show became 3 hours, he did 11-12 locally, 12-2 nationally, and another hour 2-3 locally. (It made things interesting when he was off. I remember Harry Shearer guest-hosting the wrap-around hours, with someone else doing the national show.)

Eventually the 11am hour was dropped, and WABC carried the 3-hour national show.

He did 6-10am for three days early in Sept. 1990, filling the slot before Jay Diamond began as morning host.

The Moist Line isn't my favorite part of the show but it can be very funny.

Shannon Farren is great ... she really "gets" the show and her presence adds a lot. I would have thought another voice would be too much but it isn't.
