Deserves it!!!? The ratings suck under his watch!!!! :mad: The Kool-Aid at R&R musta been spiked!

Great example the Peter Principle is alive & well! The Master Blunder Blogger has made so many bone-headed programming moves he should try out for "Dancing With The Stars." :D

"For what the dude has done at KTAR since he got there" he should get the ax to his groin area! ;D

What did the Master Blunder Blogger do to deserve it? Spend $75-mil. to acquire an FM signal, turn 620 into a sports behemoth and shuffle the behind-the-scenes and programming deck - several times???

Sorry Master Blogger, but Nurse Jeff and I are votin' for the KFI PD. You'll get our vote for most changes by a PD in a year that really haven't done anything to beat a lowly AM station that fades out when going under bridges and has a mid-day host with a fake studio audience! (wasn't that Reason #27?)

btw...has Bill Handel gone Up North? He's listed as being with CKFI :eek:

Congrats Russ! Everyone who worked with him knows he's worked his a** off to make KTAR modern.
 
Nobody has "won" this award yet. he is one of the six nominees and up against heavy competition.
 
And by "modern" it means that, rather than having a 1975 show with McBland, he has a 1985 show with Aunt Carlos.

Where is that "Flock of Seagulls" 8 track when you need it?

92.3 is 11th place 12+, even with a $75-mil. FM frequency! And 620 STILL doesn't boast good ratings - despite Gambo & Ash in PM drive. THAT something to be rewarded by an R&R nom!!!? Russ Hill is truly clueless when it comes to talk radio.
 
Modern like Barry Young's sound effects.......... Bruce Jacobs' reading of the newspaper on the radio.............. or JD Hayworth talking to callers from Sun City? ;)
 
Aunt Carlos = 1985, but Barry Young is 2008? Get real man. KFYI's guys get ratings but they sound older than the drivers in Sun City. Just the facts........................
 
Bug on the Rug and Dr. Akbar... You both seem very bitter. Your radio careers must have been very short. Fact of the matter is the challenges with KTAR preclude Russ's time with the station. He is the one FIXING the product.

I think you just need to get over the fact that he is trying new things to make the product unique and memorable. Sure, there will be some goofs along the way, but he does work his you-know-what off, and the entire staff is dedicated to winning. And with that, they will, in time.

Gosh, imagine that. A staff that wants to win... and not whine. And a staff that appreciates the leadership and investment the ownership is making in the station. It's certainly a far cry from other management/companies who don't give a lick about their workers and initiate hiring freezes, or willy-nilly fire staffers because someone in New York or San Antonio told them they had to.

I think it's comical that, for as much as you bag on KTAR, you sure like to listen to it. Now THAT'S pathetic!

No, Barry is about 1999. And Bruce is just plain awful. He belongs in sports, not intelligent talk.

But that's a hell of a lot better than KTAR. KTAR is rudderless.
