Russ Martin dead

today's been a sad day and he did had health issues in the past 5 years with a blood clot, subdural hematoma and a couple of other issues too.

RIP Russ, DFW has lost a legend in the radio industry.

the announcement that aired at 1 PM Saturday has been uploaded as a podcast on iHeartRadio, and it's a very emotional listen as Dan, Clo and Alife announce Russ has passed away.

also, they did the first show since Saturday's heartbreaking announcement and it was full of stories and sharing of condolences from fans, JoAnn Jackson (the widow of a Dallas cop killed in the line of the duty that became a friend of the show because of the Listeners fund charity Russ founded to help families of Cops and Firefighters killed in the line of duty), former show intern Kenzie, Bret Smith from Shinedown, Jessie James Dupree from Jackyl, regular show advertiser and friend of the show Rodney Anderson of Supreme Lending who told his tell of when Russ bought the domain of "Beartrapa** dot com" for Rodney's Supreme Lending, as well as a tribute bit of St. Peter meeting Russ as he arrives to Heaven which ended with St. Peter placing him in Dog Heaven (due to the fact Russ was a proud Dog Dad to his pet dogs he loved) and Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price as well as a few listeners remember Russ on Monday's show.

as for the future of the show, Dan, Alfie and Clo will carry on with the show, but the future of the show as in keep Russ' name or rebrand to "The Dan O'Malley Show" or "The Treehouse with Dan, Alfie and Clo" could be decided in the next few months once the grieving process is over.

Did the Russ Martin Show ever have any BEST OF releases on cassette or CD?
they did during the early days of their run on 105.3 and one of those was the best of the "911 calls" bit that he did where he did a character of a black woman who called 911 over random things like the Virgin Mary, Robert Downey Jr, a alligator, a tornado and Santa Claus. those were classic bits.

sadly those have long since went out of print.

speaking of the late Russ Martin, The Eagle did a full day of honoring Russ by encouraging listeners to donate to his Listeners Foundation charity that helps families of cops and firefighters killed in the line of duty in North Texas.
