Russ Martin Mornings *EDITED*

In my neverending quest to expose deception in radio, yours truly has obtained a document that coroborates a source who has stated that the Russ Martin Show will be taking over mornings after Howard Stern leaves for Sirius. This source has also confirmed that the RMS will be heard on several Southwest properties.

*** BEGIN EDITED INFO ***

It has been revealed to me that several stations in the Southwest are being considered for the RMS. I had previously listed three stations in Texas, but just recieved an email from yet another source that states that one of the stations I had listed was incorrect.

Fear not, as I am researching to find out which stations will be carrying the RMS morning show. I will update as necessary.

*** END EDITED INFO ***

Now, I have my grubby little hands on a document confirming a meeting in New York between Mr. Martin and Infinity execs.

Bingo wants to remind everyone that you should never print an email that contains secret information. If you print that email, do not throw it away. If you throw it away, make sure it's shredded first. And please, empty the coffee cup before you put it in the trash. It makes my job harder... I mean... uh... it's messy... don't do that.

My source informs me that the meeting (confirmed on Aug. 16) actually occurred on the 20th, and that the announcement should be made late September.

I have scanned the document and have uploaded here:

All the memo states is that Russ agreed to go to NY. If you would have listened to the RMS, you would know that. Yesterday (Tue, 8/23), Gavin was desperately trying to get Russ to go to NY with him to meet with Tim and the other guys in "corporate". On-air, Russ was against the whole idea of meeting people on the corporate level. All this memo states is that Russ agreed to meet in NY with corporate.

If his on-air statements are any testiment of his true feelings, Russ will not accept any offer that would move him to mornings. According to the memo, he did not even agree to meet on the topic of mornings, he only agreed to meet.

I don't expect Russ to move anytime soon. He's #1 (and for a reason). Oh, and by the way, how in the world do you draw the inference that he is moving from this alleged "memo"??

its all a bit on what he says on the air could be different off air

CTL, I didn't say that the memo confirmed the move. I didn't say that the memo was proof that the RMS was moving to mornings. I said that the memo corroborated a sources story. And it does.

The "on air" RMS has made it clear that there has not nor ever will be negotiations with New York about moving to mornings. This memo provides information to the contrary.

Oh, and if you beleive everything that airs from the RMS... well... I got a bridge for sale... interested?<P ID="signature">______________

Re: Russ Martin Mornings *REQUEST*

OK, folks... if you are going to email me information, please do not say that you "heard it from this guy that used to drive by the studios every day" or anything like that.

I either need a verifyable source or contact info for the person you say you got the information from.

Also, if you are going to email me and tell me that I'm wrong, fine... if you feel that you need to insult me while telling me I'm wrong, fine...

...but insulting my friends and my family is uncalled for.<P ID="signature">______________

"its all a bit on what he says on the air could be different
off air"

say it ain't so! Isn't everything they do on the air reeeeel? Oh God, I feel so confused.

LOL.

If indeed what you guys are talking about is true, I can see Russ working a deal with the suits. He's already making some serious cash... but this would be the move of his life. If they make him a sweet $$ deal, you bet your ass he'll take it. I mean, he's what.. 45 - 46 years old now? Russ ain't no fool.
I can almost see JD's mouth watering.

If this is really happening, Kudo's to Mr. Martin. The king of white trash goes Hollywood. Wow... I need to sit down.

I concur. We're red-blooded Americans probably 99% of us would say "I'm not doing mornings," but that would change in a heartbeat for the right amount of cash. We act like we're prinicpled but we're all whores to the might greenback.

Could Russ make it outside Dallas? Well the Austin experiment wasn't exactly a success. The show has all the elements to be a syndicated success, but his bread and butter is his local relatability. If he can pull down that amount of green in today's penny-pinching radio biz more power to him.
