Russ Martin

What would you think of Russ returning to the airwaves doing mornings on The Eagle? Just sayin.

He'll never do it.

That's some dude on his first post, who has a 'friend' who claims Russ is going to do mornings...

Yeah, that's credible... ::)

And if you're CBS, and still have him under contract, what's in it for you? Unless Russ negotiates an end to the contract (i.e. if you'll let me work at KEGL, I won't make you pay me boatloads of cash to do nothing) CBS has control here, don't they?

And if you're CBS, and have a morning show (Jagger et al) on your station that is supposed to (supposed to being the operative words) draw male listeners (The Fan) why would you let what could be competition (Russ) out of a contract and go to a competitior?

Jagger so rarely talks sports, and even more rarely does it on any kind of serious level (actual x's and o's, interviews with anybody besides who they're contractually obligated to talk to (Jerry, Wade, Mickey, etc), writers from other markets, etc)that I think Jagger isn't competing with KTCK and ESPN for sports listeners. He's appealing to the talk listeners who don't like politics...And that means that Russ would kick Jagger's a** at 'guy-talk' in morning drive.

And I did some thinking, Little1. My guess is someone with a handle like "longhorny" sounds like an appropriate friend to have drinks with loose lips, radio wanna be Trey Trenholm.

Wow, coming from a Russ Martin fan board, it MUST be true! Oh wait, July 5th is a national holiday this year, so I'm sure the Eagle will want to roll out their big star on a day where everyone is sleeping in..

Rumor = FAIL.

When you think about it it makes sense with Lex & Terry coming to do mornings on the Fan sometime in July. Russ probably opted out of his contract so he could do mornings at KEGL & CBS brings in L & T to compete with him for morning drive. Why else would CBS hire two non sports guys and put them on a sports station.
