Russ Martins options

So now that all has calmed down, Let's weigh The Batmans next move.
-Sirius/XM, doesn't have any money, plus Russ could possibly not survive outside the dfw market.
-He is not going to an AM station so all AM staions out.
-He is not going to a CBS operated station, so CBS out as well.
- Obviously he will not be picked by an urban station or regional mexican station so those out as well.
-Christian stations, out.
So what are his options if he's to come back to radio, does he have any? Maybe if the above stations flip formats, he might make it back in. He probably has a chance with Clear channel, but slim. Maybe he could talk to Kraddick to syndicate him with his new company Yea Networks, oh the irony.

I heard he is going to start a test run doing overnights on the ticket starting Jaunary 12th. The funny thing is he will not be using his real name, he is going to be using the name Anthony Tuckerson. From what I have heard he will do a Su-Th 12:00am-5:00am shift.

From what I gather he is actually a fairly knowledgeable about sports, and he totally has played it down on the air all these years because that is what his audience wanted from him. His average listener was only a moderate or below average sports fan, so he wanted to fit in and be their buddy who needed their help when it comes to sports.

JD will not be joining him.

Marksman...Thats the best story ive heard in awhile man...... ;D

Yeah, that's it, he is going to work nights at the Ticket.... Dude, come on, you think that ANYONE would pay real money for that shift? Besides the fact he has a Non-compete that at the shortest would be 90 days.... Come on you can do better than that..

Even though it's quite possibly the most absurd thing I, too, have ever heard, non-compete clauses are about worthless. They're hard to enforce and are usually nothing more than leverage for a buyout because going to court to challenge one is prohibitively expensive.

Why would the Ticket pay him to do overnights when they can run syndicated stuff for next to nothing?

How is it exactly he's going to work anywhere while under contract with CBS until 2011?

Well doesn't that suck - a non-compete that has effect even when fired. I'm sure normal for most contracts -- but damn.... he stands to lose a good chunk of audience even though he gets paid for the time off - I can't believe Russ would have signed anything that damaging to his career - he's a smart guy....

So, Anthony Tuckerson, uh, I mean, marksman, wants us to listen to his show on the Ticket??

I believe the Bone doesn't have a morning show. Could they Pick up Russ Martin?

So let me get this straight..Russ is gonna come to overnights at a station started by a man who hates him to this day, Mike Reiner. I don't think so.

So Rhyner hates Martin..id like to hear this story....

IIRC, a couple of years ago (back when they were competitive, before the Hardline started consistently beating him M25-54, ---example, last book they were 1st, he was 6th---) Russ sent his minions to go through Rhiner's trash.

Oh yeah, I remember that...That would be a good reason to not give em a job....Didint rhyner threaten him with legal action over that...

Russ is finished. He will never be back on the air again. Lets just move on!

Yes, everyone stop talking about the subject because "radioaircheck" says so. While the rest of us have no idea how this situation will play out, "radioaircheck" obviously has the insider info that RM will never be on the air again.

/removes tongue from cheek

To me, it sounds like the majority of the posters on this board are bitter (former) radio personalities that just wish they had the success Russ had. If this is the mentality of most radio hosts then I don't blame Russ in the slightest for the way he acted/treated some people. It's funny, everything he did you haters have something negative to say about it. If he is so hated, why did his listeners foundation have the money to pay out for fallen hero's? If he's such a terrible person why did he last as long as he did? I have no ties at all to the show other than being a loyal fan from the early KEGL days...and as such I find the garbage spewed about any of the hosts...current or former...disgusting.

If everybody is so much better than Russ was, why are you wasting your time posting garbage on this site instead of prepping for your own show?
