Russ Parr on WXBT

I was flipping through the radio on the way to work this morning and noticed Russ Parr is now on WXBT 100.1 The Beat in Columbia. Good move in my opinion, the BIG BEAT morning show was rather dull and boring. I have always liked the Russ Parr show and now it's finally in Columbia. I know many of you may disagree and not like that fact that sydnication is taking over. Thoughts?

Russ Parr is ok, definately much better than Steve Harvey. WWDM, considering their huge reach and audience across SC, should have their butt kicked for losing their live and local morning show for that crap.

Say what you want about Steve Harvey, but he is killing it on DM. Double digit numbers. I agree they should not have ousted the local show, but from a ratings standpoint, it seems to have worked.

Good point Bugz, even though DM is major heritage, they lost their morning steam when Curtis left the AM spot for WLTX-TV.

Curtis was a great loss for DM and is a great guy. And little Vernessa Pendergrass rocked. Tony "G-String" G and Prince Ice were great guys as well. I enjoyed working with all of them. A great, classy bunch.

That was when DM had the most solid crew ever! I used to love The Big DM back in the late 90's-early 2000's. When 6pm came Mon-Fri after hearing mostly R&B all day, you knew it was time for some revolutionary rap radio with DJ Prince Ice. You would hear a bunch a local and regional rap music mixed with the mainstream hip-hop of the time. The Phat 8 @ 8 followed by a themed 9pm-10 show (Reggae, Old School, Ladies Choice) varying on the day. Man, I miss those days.

Me too. And they loved the fact that it was clear that the Bid DM was the top dog in the building, too.

When Steve Harvey was in town he would come by DM. I can't say I like Steve Harvey as a person. LL Cool J was the Bee's Knees.
