Just back from a weekend in Southern Illinois. I saw the WYNG van literally circling a studio where a station was replacing and adding equipment. Went on for three days. Not only did employees of the station drive by repeatedly to get a view of what equipment the station was installing, they sent the Withers owned WYNG station vehicle (with call letters on the side) with the General Manager driving it to do the same.
A single drive by or even 10 drive bys might be the kind of thing to expect from a nosy old woman with nothing to do. The station being stalked wondered why their new facilities were so exciting that Withers sent his henchmen to stalk them. Apparently WYNG is in such poor shape (aren't we all?) that rather than sell time they needed to see what their competitor was doing to copy it?
It was more like photogs following Britney Spears than a nosy old woman. Sad part is that whoever is driving the WYNG van is apparently living in it as it has been parked near the station with someone sleeping in it.
Is this common Withers practice?
