Rusty Stonefelt, RIP

Just got a note from Ed Curry that long time Radio (and TV audio) Producer, Rusty Stonefelt passed last week (Jan 8).
Here is the link to his Obituary in the Houston Chronicle:

I remarked to Ed that it's a real shame to learn things about a person after they're gone that you would like to have known when they were still with us. Rusty was a real piece of work--and I mean that in a good way--and apparently had a life before Radio many people could only dream about.

Rusty was a man of many talents. He was also a musician and a good trumpet player.

I remember hearing him DeeJay easy listening big band stuff on the old KMSC 102.1 FM out of Nassau Bay in the late 60s. (it's now Majic 102) He possessed vast knowledge of the big bands and the great musicians.

I worked with him for a few years when I was at KTRH in the late 70s and again in the late 80s. He was there for a long time, and he was always a friendly presence in the room. Sad to hear that he's not here anymore.
