rut-row

via All Access.....

Last FRIDAY (2/24) was a difficult day for CLEAR CHANNEL/LOS ANGELES as 14 staffers, many veterans among them, in accounting, production, promotions, sales and other departments were told they no longer had jobs.

In a staff memo, CC RVP GREG ASHLOCK wrote: "As I'm sure some of you have heard, it was a difficult day here as we had to let go of some very talented, good people. The staff reduction was simply a matter of operating in a more efficient manner after consolidation. When we brought all the stations together a couple of years ago, we never really made the changes necessary to perform in a more streamlined fashion. Unfortunately, we had to move forward with some difficult decisions today to accomplish this."

where's the NEXT cost cutting move gonna be?

Delmonico Tartare?

It doesn't take a GENIUS to figure that out, does it?

The bus is coming. Who'll be on board, and who'll be in front of it?

Who's making too much money?

Who can be replaced cheaper?

Who'll be the cook, and who'll get cooked?

Let the jockeying for position begin!

Re: rast-row

Plan on this happening in ALL of the radio stations. Howard Sirius + XM + Ipod + Streaming + p2p file sharing (computers). Theres no money left. Radio is getting thrown under the bus because you will notice movies and tv are sucessfully stopping file sharing. No more riaa, the streams are all coming back with no commercials. Radio as we know it has been gone a long time. I would get 250.00/hr gigs when i was working on-air in the 80's and that wasnt even considered the good days of radio stations. These days everyone in the stations are getting off on throwing people under the bus. Its a horrid place to work and some of the people deserve every bit of whats coming.

Re: Delmonico Tartare?

been driving the bus too long with his gumas in safety seats. So much money being wasted with these old jobs they don't even need. Radio is dead with sirius and xm where talent blossoms and dj's are free.
Edited by bartstar on 03/05/06 06:55 PM.
