The pre-SYNDEX cable of Bellows Falls, VT had FOUR ABC stations? Would've loved to see that same lineup one year later!

For those not from New England: Hartford in this instance is the Vermont town. Channel 31 was licensed to White River Junction, a village within the town of Hartford. (Not to be confused with Hartford, Connecticut!)

One of the reasons we had channel 31 was to fill in coverage gaps where WPTZ-TV (NBC) channel 5 of Plattsburgh, NY didn't quite reach in the Upper Connecticut (River) Valley. Channel 31 more or less became a satellite of WPTZ-TV down the road.

Channel 31 today has been re-licensed to Montpelier, VT. It's now a WPTZ-TV subchannel and is a CW affiliate.

[To compare, our cable in New Britain, CT once carried WWOR-TV, WPIX-TV and WSBK-TV. WPIX-TV was the first SYNDEX shoe to drop on July 1, 1990.]

19 years ago The Super 8 Motel in Brattleboro, which used the same cable provider as the town of Brattleboro had 4 ABC stations on it. - WCVB Boston, WMTW Poland Springs Maine, WMUR Manchester NH, and WCDC Adams Mass (WTEN's satellite station).
 
I went to a summer camp at a hotel in Killington in 1994 and I think they were on the Woodstock/Windsor/Springfield/Ludlow cable system. They carried WBZ and WHDH from Boston, plus WCAX and WNNE from the "local" DMA. The only ABC affiliate on the system at that time was WMUR. I remember network programming being blacked out on the Boston affiliates.

Somewhere in a box I have the Rutland Times-Herald TV section from 1994. I believe the Rutland cable system had primarily Albany TV stations by then, plus WCAX.

WCAX-TV is on all cable systems in Vermont. The same goes with WMUR-TV on all cable systems in New Hampshire.

As for the Super 8 on US Route 5 in Brattleboro...I've stayed there a couple of times. Maybe they had the actual Adelphia (later Comcast) cable lineup for the town in 2001. It wasn't even close in my time. You were lucky if the "cable" carried the big 4 from Boston. I think WHDH-TV (IND) channel 7 was still carried the last time I stayed there. I don't know if they bothered to pick up NBC Boston. No WMUR-TV or WSBK-TV channel 38 for what I remember.

I think the Sleep Inn up the road, close to the Dummerston town line, did carry NBC Boston. (Heading north, they were the last hotel or motel along that stretch.)

I’m pretty sure the Killington system carried the national FOXNET feed, since WFFF didn’t sign on until 1997. No superstations that I can recall.
