Murcuryvapor, from your post- "8:29 AM "SCARE EASY" - MUDCRUTCH <- Dump-Petty soundalike-bury this"

Petty soundalike ???

Please tell us you're not this stupid!!!

I think the word you're looking for is indifferent. So what if Petty's in the band. I don't care that much to look at the band's personnel. Who gives a s**t. Just leave it on the classic rock stations-it sounds like his old crap.

And according to the wiki it is his old crap. Happy?

Clearly this station is not catering to people who are as picky as you - and if they did, their ratings would be horrible even compared to what they are now. Personally, I was pleasantly surprised by some of the tracks included there, and the only ones I took issue with were the Black Crowes, Nickelback, Cheap Trick, Lifehouse, and Van Halen.

I think my suggestions would get ears to RXP.

Clearly they are misrepresenting themselves if they say they're going to be 'different'. That's why there are no ratings: people sense this is gonna be the same old shite.

If you're not in politics, you should be. You can't even admit that you really didn't know that Tom Petty did the vocals. Whatever.

As far as your critique of their playlist, some of it I agree with, but you are wayyy too harsh. You must be really really hard to please. So what radio staion do you like? Or satellite? Or Internet?

Are you daft, or what? I said I didn't care. I have stopped caring about the career trajectories of many classic rock staple artists, and I haven't cared since the days of The Traveling Wilburys (remember them?). Sounded like Tom Petty, was Tom Petty-again, who gives a s**t. It's fecking boring. I only care about that character he does on King of the Hill, and that's way down there on the list.

And how am I 'wayyy too harsh'? Examples, please.

Seeing that I'm daft and you're stupid cos ya didn't know it was TP doing the vocals, I guess its a draw. I only give examples in a civil conversation, since this is about to go to the TIO bin, I'm outta here. :p

I am of the opinion that the looped beat from the Snow Patrol song "Chasing Cars" (another fine staple in the 'RXP playlist) was stolen from the "Silver Shamrock" theme song in the movie "Halloween III: Season of the Witch".

Sounds like a project...get that A/B clip together.

Sure - as soon as I'm done putting together my latest piece for the Stephanie Miller Show... ;D

Yes. You need a time out. You called me stupid first, and I was a gentleman about it. There is a point where one needs to respond to someone who resorts to name calling and does not want to listen to reason about the most trivial of things.

Didn't mean to harsh your mellow, dude.

This thread is certainly more exciting than the music mix on RXP....

The music mix on RXP is more exciting than any other NYC station...

I should have specified, I was refering to commercial radio...

...but they still have a looong, ugly way to go.

The station is a huge snooze....and way too much talking in the morning about the hosts (Matt) past radio jobs. Personally I don't care. Even the commercials are bad. How many times do I have to hear about a free laptop? Sussex NJ morning radio sounds better. So much for another NY rocker.

This station will prove to be as big of a debacle as Movin' 93-9 in L.A.

Just watch.

Country would've been a better choice than this crap. Oh wait -- I forgot -- Emimis hates doing Country in major markets. See L.A.

Quite honestly, they should've stuck with Smooth Jazz. Even if billing is somewhat lackluster, it should be mitigated by the fact the format has relatively low overhead.

It's difficult to think of any other format options that would've been more viable than what they already had!

I hope my 'hammering' (really, I have no illusions about this) will have some influence on the music and/or the format will be landing in nearly the same spot anyway.

they need to base it around the foundational stars of NYC roots rock scene of the 70s/80s and tie that in with what's currently going on in the time line...make it worth listening to and people will listen

There IS an audience for current alternative rock music, just not a huge one. Rather than going for a grand slam, how about just a singe or double. In other words, serve the core audience and you may find some success. An alternative in the vain of Indie 103 (LA), FNX (Boston) mixed in with the occassional "Classic alternative" cut from the 80's would be interesting. As I've said in a million other threads, we already have a classic rock station, a rock station that plays classic rock (K-Rock), so there really is no need for the Pink Floyd, Aerosmith, etc. cuts.
