RXP's biggest mistake so far

Obviously, Format flips are usually done weeks in advanced, with a certain date to pull the trigger.

RXP missed a GOLDEN opportunity to flip yesterday and be all over the place during the Giants parade. 24 hours wouldn't have made that much of a difference, and they could have gotten people from the tri-state to know about their station without even trying.

So I'm enjoying what I'm hearing so far, but -1 for not seizing the opportunity.
 
NO THE BIGGEST MISTAKE IS NO STREAMING - THAT IS BY FAR!! HOPE YOU ENJOY WHAT YOU'RE HEARING - ON A NON STREAMING STATION IN ONE OF THE WORLD'S BIGGEST CITIES!!!
 
Oh, please....they've been on the air only 7 hours. And wasn't the Giants parade today? How would them launching yesterday have helped them?

I do agree about the streaming, though they're far from the only station in NYC that doesn't stream, including the other two Emmis stations. Hasn't hurt them too much, even if it would be nice if they all did stream.

What a poop,This station is unlike ANY thing else in NYC and youre already knocking it!Give it a chance..You must hate rock music.Variety is the spice of life,no?This sation has lots of variety,so far.They do need a request line .

Launch yesterday - have vans, street team, etc plastering the giants parade with stickers, shirts, etc.

It's not like someone woke up yesterday morning and decided to flip the station. They had this planned weeks in advance. Maybe they didn't have enough stuff to give out, but they could have had some sort of prescence at the parade to get the word out.

I'm a big radio person, and I love rock music, and I had no idea this station existed until I hit the board tonight.

Tonight I hear some bob dylan song play uncensored the word N----- and Pearl Jam played Jeremy uncensored with the phrase harmless little F--- .Totally uncensored! Mix it up guys.I bet they get some attention with this format.I'd say they are trying to burn down rap with this puppy.Wapp of the 2000s.
 
Starscream Neo was talking to me not to you. And I dont hate rock music neo. i like smooth jazz more though.

2You obviously are bothered by that ,you posted it like so many times.
3You miss CD101.9 smooth Jazz (but it IS on HD2)
4If youre in NY you can hear 101.9 ,so whats the big deal?
5Would you like some wine with your crackers?
If youre so upset ,get an HD radio($20 on ebay) Or Sirius(like $20) or Xm,they have smooth Jazz offerings.
 
There was an on-air mistake yesterday on 'RXP that I don't think anybody picked up on. At about 5:45 PM, going into break, Brian Schock was clearly off-mic as his throw to spots was feebly heard (he was being drowned out by the music bed). Anyone else heard this?

If they can say N- and F- on varoius Over-The-Air PBS "Programs", then it should be OK when it's tastefully done in a song ...but not mere cursing... ala rap.

I heard him screw up a time or two.....he said so himself on the air: "I'm still learning the board". At least then I knew it was a live show. ;D

Dude, even BOB SHANNON screws up every so often -- I'm a regular listener to his show. And in my not so humble opinion Bob is like the god of all deejays currently on the air.

3 & 4 am not in NYC though. So it is a BIG deal! Aren't they going to stream the new rock station - they have a neat logo?
 
What really stinks is that they don't stream.
If only they could stream.
They should just stream.
They can't succeed if they don't stream.

It's hard to hear the New York stations inside buildings, even in Manhattan. Streaming will help them get listeners who are inside offices all day, and it will still count towards the ratings.

Exactly! Emmis 'walking behind the facts' with not streaming there stations. It's very important that stations stream there signal these days. Some stations have whole departements to sell advertisements on this streams. It's sooo late 90's that a company not stream!
 
I think playing the single version of Dave Matthew's Band's "Two Step" is foolish. A seven minute song doesn't condense to three minutes. If they want to play jam bands then great, but don't try to squeeze a seven minute song into 2:50.
