Ryan Seacrest in Greenville?

Anybody else surprised "On Air With Ryan Seacrest" hasn't made it to Greenville yet? WNOK and WSSX are both airing it (WQNQ/Asheville as well), the show really seems to be gaining popularity. I find it surprising Entercom hasn't tried it on WFBC either 10-1a or 3-6a...SX is airing it PM drive. 10-1pm seems better to me.

So, should we expect Seacrest on B93.7 soon? I don't know if Entercom has tried it anywhere yet.

I am in Asheville and listen to his show on Star 104.3 (WQNQ) from 1-4. Does he program all the music for all of the stations during the time that he is on air? How does this work?

lol I couldnt resist... 600 bucks he would even cutt off a peace of his hair to auction off on your station.. Besides that, he is a KIIS in LA.. I doubt he has much time for cross country visits. 600 bucks wouodnt even cover his gas for his bus.

I think the term "gaining popularity" should be put in perspective. His show is "gaining popularity" amongst bean-counters of the corporations that own multiple radio stations because airing his show saves them a full-time salary in many cases. I seriously find it hard to believe having more Hollywood hob-knobbing and less music during at-work hours is "gaining popularity." If anything, I think the bean-counters won't care about lower ratings when their bottom line taking a cut nets 'em a better profit. Just my two cents.

Well, Seacrest's affiliate page lists B93.7 as an affiliate M-F 4-7pm, so looks like it may be in the works.

Not surprised. A lot of stations are adding his program. The question: how are the jocks affected? Surprised they didn't do 3-6 instead since they have a 10-3 jock and 6-11 jock, then they wouldn't have to shake anything up.

Yes...from 3-6.

I don't get the hold-up...they obviously signed with Seacrest, why isn't he airing? Given that WQNQ (Hot AC, more like CHR without rap) in Asheville airs the program, then WIBT in Charlotte (Hip-Hop) airs it, I would assume the station programs the music.

After more investigation, according to the B93.7 website, Chase Murphy is the program director, so I guess he could stay with the cluster even after Seacrest comes, maybe do mid-days or something else in the building. If they really wanted to get it down to bare bones, they could have mornings 5-10, mid-days 10-4, Seacrest 4-7, night show 7-12. Have the weekday DJs voicetrack weekends or something.

That would be awfully long shifts for a station like The B....shifts at similarly formatted stations are 3 or 4 hours long, almsot never 5, with a few exceptions, the night shift.

I don't know, maybe so...but 95SX in Charleston has LONG shifts - Mid-days are 10-3 and nights are 6-12 (woah) with Seacrest in the middle of course. Doesn't B93 have somebody in there all the time? Lots of weekenders too. At least they are investing in some airstaff right now..

I didn't know Kain Cameron was working at WSSX since being let go from CC and Sunny 96.9. Always liked her.

Seacrest is not an improvement in programming. he takes the place of a salary and benefits. there are stations that have seven hour time slots that are mostly pre-recorded.

Q 104.9 in Sheridan, WY has a guy on 9am to 4pm... yuck

B93.7 has added Ryan Seacrest to their DJ section, but nothing on how it affects their on-air staff from what I can see. I guess his show starts tomorrow.

Well, he made to this market yesterday.
Afternoon Dirve....morphed fom the L.A. morning show.

Yep. It wasn't that bad...but of course it is bad that it takes the place of a live person. PD is doing mid-days apparently. Nights are now 7-12, as opposed to 6-11 (I like that more). Personally I would have aired it mid-days, but this probably saves more money..

This didn't cost anyone a job or salary.

Their old line up was:

530-930 Mornings
930-300 Dino
300-600 Chase
600-1000 Joe

Now they are:

530-930 Mornings
930-noon Chase
noon-4p Dino
4-7 Seacrest
7-mid Joe

Just shifting around it seems.
