Ryan Seacrest on Z100 - Why middays?

Considering that Ryan Seacrest is possibly the biggest star in radio these days (after Rush Limbaugh). Isn't it strange that Z100 is having him on from 10-1 and not in afternoon drive?

I get that the idea that the afternoon drive show should be live but I do think that there's a chance that z100 would do better with Seacrest in the afternoon.

I have to admit though that I never listen to the show so I don't know how local the show is.
 
it's not local at all... say perhaps danielle's sleaze reports, etc. they bumped perfect quality, shelley, to overnights so this garbage can take her place?

another reason why CC disgusts me and always will.

Why not? Seacrest gets all the big guests and I assume that he's no.1 in LA(look at KIIS:s ratings and cume). Obviously it was just a matter of time before CC would try to put his show on in NY.
 
His show is syndicated to hundreds of stations. I hear him locally on Kiss fm 98.3 Winchester, an then again the same show starting an hour later on Hot 99.5. Presumably its again the same show in NYC, however, I caught some of it last friday an heard Seacrest actually introduce Brittany's song "Radar", "on Z-100". So obviously he does record drops just for NY. He counts down the Top5 @ noon on Z100 too so another V.O. recorded just for Z100. We get the generic show down here.

Personally I'd rather hear Shelley Wade again, even though I'm not a big fan of her. Seacrest should be burried somewhere else....I guess 2-6am would be the only other slot for him OR mid-days. I'm sure Billy the kid gets good ratings in the primetime slot an I'd hate to see Joe Rasati bumped so that leaves switching w/ Shelley or bumping JJ. Or just getting rid of Ryan all-to-gether :) He's everywhere. I've had enough of Ryan......too much really.

It's meant as a mid-day show. I imagine the station's spot rate is higher in afternoon drive, and they keep all the money if they keep it local.

It's a much different and localized show on Z100 and FYI, Billy has een gone for weeks. Ryan's numbers went up over Shelley's so I guess it was a good move. His show is designed for at work listening. Interviews, talk, etc. The show is in the Midday slot almost everywhere. It's not up to most stations to pick the time slot

Yeah..boo on Clear Channel. Ryan probably gets paid more for NY...gives huge content and star power and guest power and his ratings went up. Yeah...boooooooooo!
 
I'm almost 100% sure that Ryan does NOT have the highest ratings at KIIS-FM. I'm not really sure WHY he's everywhere. He's just been able to make a name for himself using the chance he got from Merv Griffin. I HATE, HATE him on radio. Period.

But, he has seized every opportunity to advance himself, as much as I can't stand the guy on radio-- I have to give him credit on that.
 
they aren't custom shows for z100...its just laziness for other markets and producers.

ryan cuts song intros and outros and they're placed on a server. its up to the local producer to record the song titles in to give it a more 'local' feel. z100 produces the show properly.

A lot of what is aired is customized for Z100. He does not do that for all of his affiliates. It is not always laziness on their part. Some stations don't even have a staff to do any of that. it's automated.
 
I'm confused by this. So the show that Z100 is not replayed clips from his LA show but a whole other show put together for syndication every day?

That's insane. Why? I don't get it. Why don't they edit the L.A show and replay it? The L.A show get all the big guests and is possibly the no.1 show in LA (even though ThatGuyOnTheRadio seems to think otherwise).

Wrong. It's edited clips..but it is also a lot of cstom wrap arounds and CUSTOM song intros and contest solicits
. The content may vary from the national shows depending on it's relevance to NY and whether or not their would be duplication with the morning show from what I hear

And don't forget his show is being carried on WBWZ's "Star 93.3" middays right after Mark Bolger.

You're right. It's edited interviews from the morning show, and the rest is fresh.
