Ryan Seacrest signs 3 year $60million deal

Really? I was truly hoping he would retire from radio. Ryan's 11a-3p daypart on KBKS is the lowest
rated daypart outside of evenings. With American Idol losing it's grip and dominance perhaps he is
just covering all bases. I about threw up when I read he is going to have the ability to sell his own
commercials within his show. Doesn't that mean local inventory will not be available to sell locally?
KIIS FM in LA does an average of $60million a year in billing.

Was Ryan worth it?

In my opinion, not even close.

Clearly CC thought otherwise. And, like anything, money talks.

And remember Seacrest does the morning show at KIIS too, so somehow I don't think that local inventory won't be available to sell locally.

He must be pulling down some serious numbers someplace otherwise why would they dish out $60 mil. ???

I still don't see how on earth any jock is worth $20 Million per year in this day and age...

Hats off to the guy though he played his cards right, and rode his spot on Idol all the way to the bank in radio & television and he has made himself a pretty good brand...

The rumor that he was being courted by a competitor didn't hurt. Just ask Jay Leno.

All you jocks who feel you're underpaid can learn a lot from his example. Hard work, a little luck, a good agent, and a well placed rumor.

So what's someone with REAL talent worth?

Ask Justin Bieber.

If Ryan Seacrest and Justin Bieber are the best we have for "talent" in America today, we're doomed.....

"Best" is subjective. Everyone has their own idea of what "best" is, as demonstrated nightly in reality TV. There is no authoritative way of determining who the best talent is. Just who people like.

Yes there is no accounting for taste as they say... I suppose that is why for every leader in the ratings pack there is always a hand full tailing behind trying to clone that success and get ahead.

I offer Paula Abdul and a perfect example, mosh together scraps of Idol and Dancing with the Stars and cross your fingers and hope people tune in waiting for the train wreck...
