RYAN SEACREST TO LEAVE KIIS?

Unlike American Idol, the Today job would require him to say goodbye to CC-Burbank.

And I hate to say it ... but compared with the TV hacks that parade through 30 Rock, I genuinely feel Seacrest would do a great job on Today.

Most of the Today show hosts have been from the news arena. This would be a change. Still don't understand the man's appeal. Shows you how little of a chance networks want to take anymore on someone new. Instead they go for a guy with too many jobs as it is. I guess if your producers and assistants do all the research all you need to do is show up and look good... He's rich enough, spread it around NBC, find someone else who really needs the job and will focus on that job alone.

He can do TODAY from 6:00 am to 9:00 am EST, jump into a radio studio at 9:00 am and start his KIIS show (live from New York) in time for a 6:00 am Los Angeles start. Right now he broadcasts On-Air from the E! studios (not KIIS), so if anyone can pull it off, it's Seacrest.

The rest of this radio stuff is voice tracked anyway, so it wouldn't be affected.

Maybe KIIS-FM should consider hiring JV from CC sister station KYLD to do mornings. His show would be aired on both KIIS-FM and KYLD :)

Not likely. KIIS FM needs a morning show based in Los Angeles not from another city. Dont know what people see in Elvis Duran show either. I remeber hearing a rumor that former TRL host Damien Fahey was gonna take over if Ryan contract wasnt renew. Now Damien is doing middays on KBIG now that Kari is on KOST.

Well maybe Seacrest is doing a smart job here by looking into the possibility that American Idol will die soon and X-Factor will be the new talent show by looking at other opportunities.

Does his audience really care that much? With today's technology it doesn't matter where your studio is located.

I could very well see KIIS test out Damien in the mornings in the time Seacrest is out and go music intensive to compete against Carson Daly on AMP. It would definitely be a smart move
Could we really see the battle of the former TRL VJs on LA morning Top 40 radio?!
I think that CC is always preparing in case something happens to a valuable asset like Seacrest, because remember, CC also repackages most of the stuff he does in the mornings on KIIS as a syndicated show, which is a big money maker and valuable content for Premium Choice.

I very well think that KIIS has one of the best talents that can fill the slot with no problem, JoJo. He's been doing nights on KIIS for quite sometime now and he's an established name in Los Angeles. He's also starting to be offered as Premium Choice. Mornings worked for Valentine, could they work for JoJo?

The first Today host, Dave Garroway, was TV entertainment host from the variety show "Garroway at Large". I guess he had been a kind of a newsman in his early radio years though his beat was special events and not hard news. Not unlike Seacrest's E Entertainment show.

I seriously doubt it since Adam talked smack about 97.1 changing to CHR before the flip. I listen to the clip on youtube it was kinda funny but I think CHR isn't his best friend but hey money talks. Booker is from the old KROCK in New York and seems to fit in with AMP just fine after 3 years on air. I assume Booker was still under contract with CBS when KROCK in New York flipped to NOW?

His replacement? Adam Corolla

I have an idea for Ryan Seacrest's replacement should he decide to take "The Today Show"
gig...JV and Rico from CC San Francisco sister KYLD! This show would be simulcast in both markets if CC decides to take that route...but, I doubt it.

Bob Crane went from radio to TV...that guy from NPR...Simon something, went to weekend morning TV...forgot what network and flopped, then went back to NPR

Even in the infotainment world we live in and even in the boneheaded world of network tv executives especially at NBC, I don't think they would turn over the Today show to an airhead like Ryan Seacrest.

I could see him being an entertainment or West Coast correspondent, but not one of the main hosts. Despite the cooking, fashion and celebrity segments, you still have to be able to credibly interview serious political guests. Considering Today is one of NBC's few bright spots, I can't imagine they would take that kind of risk.

A ton of radio personalities have gone from radio to TV - this is nothing new. Jim Hawthorne, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Cal Worthington, Charlie O'Donnell, Bob Eubanks, Geoff Edwards, Gary Owens, Jim Lange, Dick Whittington, Wink Martindale, Casey Kasem, Dr. Drew Pinsky, etc. And that's just a partial list of the West Coast. I know Gene Rayburn was a radio guy in New York, and I'm sure there were many others.

I know this might be labeled as (A) wishful thinking and (B) it'll never happen (kinda like everything else on these borads)...but imagine that CC does what half this board has been predicting since Fred R. Rated stopped doing Federated Store commercials and turn their highly rated AM to FM silmucast at 92.3..what would happen to their highly paid (albiet these days voice tracked) morning guy.

(I know, I coulda just said, what about Dees, but I'm a bloviator...)
