Ryan Seacrest to middays on Kiss 108

It's horrible to be a witness to what's happening to radio on the local level.

Yes, and it's happening everywhere and in most key formats.

Rapking may know this, but most of the nation's large urban and urban/AC formatted stations have become homogenized in the same way and were leading the pack on this. From Tom Joyner in the am to Michael Baisden, Mo'nique and/or that dreadful Wendy Williams during afternoons and early evenings, there is very little local programming left on these stations.

CHR is headed that way too. Syndicated mornings and middays are just the start in many markets. Seacrest's show is on big-market CHRs coast to coast, which means that the programming will be as bland as generic-brand white bread. Too bad.

The difference here, though, is that Seacrest's radio show has no track record. Tom Joyner has always pulled great ratings. Steve Harvey's done incredible in major markets, Chicago comes to mind. Michael Baisden's show is also strong, and Mo'nique's new show has put WMMJ back into the race in Washington, D.C. These shows have also had time to develop.

The Seacrest show is bits of his KIIS-FM Los Angeles morning show pretty much tacked together, and has only existed for what... 3 months? Now, it's being thrown on major market stations including Kiss 108 and 103.5 Kiss FM in Chicago. What's next, Z-100?

(plus, WSNE's signal already blankets half the market with this trainwreck for those who want to hear it.)

93.3 in Providence has Seacrest followed by John Tesh - Intelligent Radio. It's embarassing - they have 1 live personality total who does mornings!

*shakes head* Cheap Channel, Thanks for ruining another classic station. We applaud the job you're doing of running what was once a great thing, terrestrial radio, into the ground.

Anyone know what the lineup is going to be at Kiss 108 now then. Is Romeo moving to late afternoons or what? Any guesses. My guess is
Matty: 6-10a.m.
Shelley Wade: 10-1p.m.
Ryan Seacrest: 1-4p.m.
Romeo: 4-8p.m.
Deidre: 8-12pm.
Tyler: 12-6a.m.

Romeo: 1-6p.m.
(TBN) Night Jock: 6-12pm.

Say bye to Shelly @ Z100, too...just a guess.

I didn't realize Shelly was vt'd in Kiss. When did this happen?
Anyone think Matty's days are numbered too?

He has the most listened to morning show in Boston. He isn't going anywhere any time soon. Unless he decides to go himself. Plus, I am pretty sure I read somewhere he and Billy just signed new contracts.

According to what I am hearing, Shelly is out at Z100 soon as well, so expect Seacrest there as well.

My guesses:

0000-0600: Tyler (VT)
0600-1000: Matty
1000-1300: Overrated Seacrest (VT Syndi)
1300-1800: Romeo
1800-2400: Microsoft Text-To-Speech (VT Typed)

(OR, in a perfect world that REQUIRED Seacrest)

0000-0600: Tyler (VT)
0600-1000: Matty
1000-1300: Ryan Seacrest
1300-1500: Dierdre
1500-1700: Romeo
1700-2400: TBD

1500-1700: Romeo

Even funnier. Someone thinks Romeo is next on the "who's packing list?"
Maybe he'll be replaced by a toaster.

One with a sexy name like "Renaldo."

Anyone from 9-90 knows Seacrest.

All comes down to content and what the listeners want to hear?
Lucy or Larry Local talking about Hollywood stars or actually hearing the stars?

Radio in it's first heyday was pretty much national programming and was forced to go local because of this thing called TV.
Kind of going full circle.

Great content=more audience=more $$$$$

Check out that CRAP they call KDAY in Los Angeles ( How to trash a classic rap station call letters ) . Its should be against the law to call this station " Kiss 108 FM ".

In this case, it's voicetracking from NYC - someone who on her first couple of days, a few years back, congratulated Peyton Manning when the Colts won the Super Bowl (it's New England, we HATE him!)...and referred to Natick as "Nah-tick" when announcing a winner just a few months ago...or...a (somewhat) proven commodity with the demo who isn't going to pretend to be in the city. At least (we hope) someone isn't losing another job in Boston because of Seacrest.
