Ryan Seacrest to Mix 100.7

On Air with Ryan Seacrest debuts tomorrow in the 3-7 slot on Mix, replacing Randi West's airshift.

Seacrest is off the 93.3 FLZ website. I wonder why they made the switch. And I wonder if American Top 40 , which has aired on FLZ for well over a decade, will continue on Saturday mornings. It was on yesterday, but I noticed Mix had the Hot AC version on this morning 6-10.

This is great news for FLZ. Now, they can more fully realize the benefits of Katie Sommers and Scotty Davis' contributions. Both talents were previously underutilized with their respective 3-hour shifts. Between Kane in mornings, a full live/local lineup after 10a for the first time in over half a decade, and FLZ's formatic and musical excellence, I think these changes leave an already-stellar FLZ sounding the best it has in years.

The net result of Mix 100.7's airstaff shakeup is more locally-originating programming, as Randi shifts to middays and Kristy Knight takes over nights, both replacing out-of-market voicetracking. Although I don't believe the Seacrest show is phenomenal, I think Mix will make it work in afternoons - and given the additional local hours and recent music improvements, it's also a vastly stronger station than it was 6 months ago.
