Ryan Seacrest

Hey guys,

I do an afternoon show in Atlanta, and was wondering what kind of morning show Seacrest is doing? Is it crap? Is it entertaining? Cheezy? Give the dude credit, his done well for himself...

Well.. I nickname him SeaCrap now and personally.. I boycott KIIS from 7am-10am now. He been using the same trick since he was at STAR.. he plays these gay-related gigs on his radio show and frankly, it gets old REALLY fast!

His voice hurts my poor ears and I go blind if I see him for more than 5 seconds....

Give him credit? What for? He obviously didn't earn them. Placing him in the same category as Dick Clark, Rick Dees, Casey Kasem is an insult.

Just my 2-cents...

I like his show. I think he's a better choice for KIIS' target demo as well.

Jealous? If it is so easy for him to become so successful, maybe we can. I give him credit for easily becoming a star. He's not that stupid. He's makin' lots of $$$$.

A pretty face helps, too. In a biz filled with guys who have faces for radio, Seacrest stands out. Doesn't hurt with his demographic.

YOU GOT TO BE JOKING WITH ME!! Pretty? Hell no!! His face makes me want to puke. Looks like a plastic Ken that's in its burning process. Have you seen him and his pictures? Prunes come to mind...

And nope.. I'm not jealous. I do give him credit for raking in the dough right now, but I respect those that earned and worked their way to the top, not some dumb luck or that he would do *anything* to crawl his way to the top no matter what. It is like an actress who worked and earn her way to the top vs. the ones that slept their way to the top. They'll eventually (perhaps) make the same $$ at the end, but I will never respect the one that slept her/his way.

Ask how many of the readers here honestly believe he EARNED his Hollywood Walk of Fame star? And how many of you say he shamelessly brought it?

He disgusts me.

PS: Gigolo's, prostitutes and strippers make tons of money too.

dude..these days they all buy it...or someone buys it for them. The
Walk of Fame hasn't meant anything in years....

Gotta ask yourself why Seacrest's success makes you crazy.
Unless he took YOUR shift somewhere along the way...what does
this have to do with you? Opinions are your right...of course, but
this thread is creepy. Let it go.

Yeah, everyone knows if you pony up the dough, you can buy a star.

Seacrest started at Star 94. I've met people who went to high school with him. Hell of an interviewer, he is, but he's not my style. He's never struck me as relatable.

Out of curiosity, where do you work?

It's true, which is why Jim Ladd, Joe Reiling, and I are stymied in our attempt to get one for the late J.J. Jackson. Even if you raise the $10k for it, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce only votes in about ten new stars a year, at best.

Hell, look how long it took Ladd to get one (only within the last year).
______________

You've got to be kidding me. Whats so bad with Ryan Seacrest? Why do you disgust him so much? Why do you hate his guts? Plus, he isn't the ugliest person on the planet, as you described. I think you are just jealous.

Funny. :)

There's a scene in the Darkness "I Believe in a Thing Called Love" video where the lead singer looks just like Ryan. Kinda scary.

Shamelessly bought.

He certainly hasn't done enough yet to establish himself as star-worthy. He's done well by "American Idol," but you'd be hard pressed to find anybody who thinks that he's the star of the show. He's just a good foil/sparring partner for Simon and the others. As far as his other ventures go, none has been as successful as it needs to be to qualify him as star-worthy.

> He disgusts me.

I wouldn't go that far, but I do find it distressing that I've heard stories about how, as he's climbed the Hollywood ladder, he's turned his back on the "little people" who have helped him reach those rungs. It's a shame if he's let success spoil him, 'cause he seemed like a nice guy when I first met him.

I have never met Ryan, but you can't help to have followed his big career moves with its heavy talk/promotion. It does not matter how he got to where he is, He's there and we are not, if it was his goal to be there, he made it happen. Regardless of whatever turns in the road he had to take to get there. For those of you who knock a person down without knowing for sure the content for which you type on this board, I would strongly advise you take your insecurities and jealousy and go see a shrink and get over either your shortcomings or hesitation to do better. The business has changed since the AWESOME days of Dick Clark, Casey Kasem and Robert W. All Ryan has done is conform to the changing times, good for him.

I have to agree. There was a time when you had to have a list of significant accomplishments in the industry to get a star on the Walk. Now, it's whoever is "hot" at the moment, to great degree. (Read my other post on the lack of a star for the late J.J. Jackson, who was at the pioneering album rocker WBCN in Boston and KLOS here in L.A. before his days at MTV, and was at KROQ and The Edge in his post-MTV days.)
______________

As I said elsewhere in this thread, (IMHO) Ryan simply hasn't made the long-term contributions to the industry that SHOULD precede getting a star on the Walk. Insecurity and jealousy have nothing to do with it, as I have no delusions that I would ever have gotten a star myself.
______________

I believe when Ryan got his star, his formal partner, Lisa Foxx, was there and was a bit upset that Ryan didn't really acknowledge her. And I find it even "funny" how he got a star for his radio career, yet he had all American Idol people there and around and thank them instead of his radio people.

Don't get me wrong. When he was at STAR with Lisa, I like the guy. I often listened to him and he seems so down to Earth. As I follow his career over the past years, his actions (like you said) suggest all the fame got to his head. What really makes me dislike him is exactly the fact that he turned his back on them and got all stuck-up.

Whatever. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Good for you to find Ryan cute and good looking. I think Jude Law is one fine and handsome guy, but hey.. you might find him to be the most ugliest thing on this planet.

Unfortunately, at this point it seems that the awarding of a star needs to be tied into some form of promotion for a new or ongoing project, which is why you see so many dubious recipients these days.

They're often the flavor of the month, but the studios want to pump up their newest film or give their TV shows a boost, and being able to get a Walk Of Fame photo-op tells middle America that the actor is a bigger deal than he really is (and hopefully results in higher ratings or ticket sales).
