Ryan Seacrest

I never said he was "cute". Plus, talking about someone's looks to bash them is pretty low.

>>There was a time when you had to have a list of significant accomplishments in the industry to get a star on the Walk. Now, it's whoever is "hot" at the moment, to great degree.>

It's a pretty well known secret that to get a star you (or ideally someone else on your behalf) gives Johnny Grant and the gang a few thousand dollars (I believe around 5) and the honoree has to agree to appear at the unveiling. In fact, there are several people who have stars waiting for them who will NOT appear, so their stars are on hold.

It's not a coincidence that many "stars" get their stars the weekend their latest film is opening.

The show is standard CHR breakfast fodder, that you would get in a small market station. Lots a music, a few competitons, a lighthearted phone in, scripped banter between Seacrest and Ellen (Not sure how she managed to get that job), and more music. Nothing special about the show and it lags behind the Z Morning Zoo.

I remember listening to the Drex Morning show on Kiss Chicago when they were talking about him after he came in to promote one of his shows. Apparently he couldn't get over how much freedom they had, how unscripted the stuff on the air was and how little music they played (Maybe a song an hour). So I don't think you can blame Seacrest for any shortcomings (Which may be a matter of opinion), but it's all the KIIS management's fault. However the show does well in the Demos.

Ellen was originally Rick Dees' sidekick and is married to former KIIS GM Roy Laughlin (which is how she survived Dees leaving).<P ID="signature">______________

All Kiis management's fault? Listen: my sense about Seacrest is this: IF he had all the freedom in the world he wouldnt know what to do with it so it's not KIIS management's fault. Would hhe be compelling fi they let him talk all he wanted ? No because he cant really carry a show in a compelling manner why do you think it took him a hit TV show to get noticed? he is a good looking albeit overly fluffed and pruned kid who when he was doing afternoons on Star didnt really command that much attention. He has a great TV face and that is what rocketed him to the public attention. He's not bad but he is certainly not great, he's white bread, VANILLA, if you didnt know he was "RYAN SEACREST" you would probably never listen and he certainly wouldnt have that gig.

That's an honest assessment.

Ryan Seacrest/ Maybe you should read his book

Saw Rick Dees in New Orleans at the MSBC a couple of months back (pre-Katrina)
and he made a snide remark or two about Seacrest. One would expect it from Dees, but why is Ryan Seacrest such a lightning rod for so many other people in the business? My own personal take on him is, good for him. He's working hard and getting ahead in his career. Why would I begrudge the guy his success?
How 'bout if I weren't as succesful and worked hard as well? No. Instead of tearing him down, I'd want to pick his brain and perhaps learn a thing or two.
I'm amazed at the petty jealousy that is prevalant when it comes to him.
