What is it that makes him so good? I've watched him on "American Idol" and I don't see anything that special. Am I missing something? Please tell me, I would like to know what makes this guy that good.

He is connected, reputable, and very well established. He is a brand.
On the occasions that I have streamed KISS in LA, he can be funny as a person when not held to a script and free wheels a little - Unlike AI and the Countdown.
Wouldn't say I am a huge fan by any means, but I don't dislike the guy for any reason and that may be the same for a lot of folks.

To win the respect of Larry King and Dick Clark indicates to me he has 'it'-plus I have been told he is probably the most efficient talent in Hollywood. A "one take Jake" kind of dude that is easy to work with, and is the total package for what a radio personality of today needs to be. Sounds good, looks good, multi talented, and you can't argue that he had determination and direction.
Think about how many people you know in the biz that said "I want Dick Clark's job," or, "I want to be bigger than Rick Dees or Casey Casem." Most of us never thought we could ever be that big,. He did. He took a shot and got it all. Good for him. He just may not be to your taste, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Dude continues to work pretty damn hard. I'd imagine a 16 hour day is pretty commonplace for him.

Even though I am not a fan of Ryan S., I do understand why he is where he is and respect that. However, I do not understand how having the respect of LARRY KING does anything for you? That was a joke right? Larry King? You might as well had said... TYRA BANKS. By the way... Larry King has no legs. Thats why you never see him out from behind that desk. His suspenders keep him attached to a motherboard of sorts. He's actually one of the last ORIGINAL ANIMATRONICS from Disneyland.

Hey guys...I have to warn all of you, if Ryan is indeed coming to a station near you:
No matter how successful he is in all of his other arena's (his morning show, e! news, american idol, etc,etc)...I promise you it will disappoint. It is airing in Providence, RI right now, and the show includes absolutely no original content...only EXTREMELY edited interviews from his morning show...he then says "we'll have more with ______ soon"...and the :25-:40 break is over. AND you'll never have more with that interviewee.
I actually respect Ryan (although its pretty annoying that I would be happy as can be with ONE of his 8 jobs)...but this is absolute radio-trash. I promise.

This was exactly what I was told. Not that it was RADIO TRASH, but it was basically his morning show edited down to fit another time slot. I had looked into getting him to take on KIDD in our market.

Amen to that....Hmm maybe we should have Rush and Ryan as a morning show!! THAT would prove interesting...for about 10 seconds.

I'm sorry, but if you are seriously considering Ryan's syndicated show for mornings, I promise you it'll be one of the worst decisions you make. First of all, the show is only meant for middays and afternoons. Secondly, Kidd Kraddick, although syndicated, is an actual morning show. Ryan's syndi show is a SUPER CONCENTRATED TASTE of his morning show. You'll hear a quick 30-40 second version of a 6-10 minute long interview he had on his LA morning show...and thats it.
Again, I love and respect Ryan, but this show IS radio trash. It is seriously the worst product I have heard on the radio in quite a while...and I think when programmers snap out of their trance, they'll realize that although Ryan Seacrest is a great host, this show is definitely not representative of that.
Programmers: take the money (or the monetary equivalent of the bartered airtime), and pay someone LOCAL. It will better serve your station.

No, no... it was just a passing thought a few months ago. I was simply looking into it. However, the idea came and went very fast. I was just looking at CHR morning options. However, that is not my thing anymore. I was saved from the world of CHR and have moved to my chosen format. It's so nice to not have to get up at 4:30am now! I don't have to listen to the same TOP 40 crap over and over and over! I don't have to keep up with crap that I have absolutely no interest in. I don't have to entertain kids anymore! I'm telling you... at one point in my CHR detention... I started looking at the price of a shotgun. I was going nuts. Just hearing CHR makes me want to PUKE! Seriously. It didnt bother me for a long time... then one day... BAM! It just made me want to pull my eyeballs out of thier sockets!
