Ryno Missing

Now, that's cold. Funny, and possibly true, but cold.

Thanks for making me laugh.

Now, Ryno's gone from the WJBX website, but still nothing in the trades. Which makes one ask the philosophical question:

"If a Ryno crashes on the beach, and nobody notices, does it make a sound?"

Maybe he can hook up with Stern on Sirius. (ROFL. Man, I kill myself sometimes...)

There was a posting a few weeks back on All Access, looking for a new afternoon drive guy at WJBX. Kinda raised my eyebrows when I saw it, too.

The good news is that he moved all the way up to market #38. The bad news is that his new station is 16th in the market with a failed '80s format that peaked a couple of books ago. He's doing mornings as a replacement for Bob & Tom. Good Luck with THAT!

Let's see, Ryno lasted about a year in FLA. 95.7 in C-Bus flipped to "The Brew" last fall. It's a major accomplishment when a format lasts a year there. Check out this history of the frequency, "borrowed" from a post on the C-Bus board:

Call Sign Begin Date

WBWR 09/22/2005
WFJX 06/30/2000
WZAZ-FM 09/14/1998
WKFX 01/20/1998
WHQK 02/03/1997
WAKS 01/31/1994
WWHT 03/07/1991
WNRJ 02/07/1990

I'm sure that Ryno will be the key to their resurgence, and that he's just beginning a new phase in a major-league broadcasting career.

Bravo.

Damn, I wish I'd thought of that line.
