Don't know what's happening but Cox's Power 106.7 HAS been sounding better lately. They're throwing in those hip-hop-leaning R&B songs... Now they just need to add some weekend jocks! 98.5 is still in the lead but I'm sure they weren't expecting Power to do this well. Congrats to Power.

yeah they have turned it around lately. we will se in the coming months if they pull it off or not. from a female hip hop head point of view, they need to not edit their music so much. those listeners notice, not just your typical radio peeps who knit pick and break down every aspect of a station.

Power is sounding great these days I wish that they will fix their HD delay in the station though, it took them forever to change the call letters in the RDS HD. As far as Majic and "Q" I almost never listen to them any more. Sometimes I'll check out the Smooth jazz station.

Magic would be better if they added some more new adult AC, more early and mid 90s AC and less 80s. They've been playing the same list of 80s tunes for the past 10 years.
As far as Q goes, I'm just not really liking the format. Seems like they play too much disco. Jack still plays too much classic rock, but I enjoy their 80s tunes better. My station of choice lately has been KONO. I'm really digging their 70s tunes they play. I'm still iffey about KTFM. I have noticed their changes and addition of a few more 90s tunes. But who knows the fate of that station.

The problem with KTFM is that the format is inconsistent. One day the format will focus on 80's, 90's and some disco and other days the format will focus on disco, Motown with some 80's. Whether this Robin just being lazy or maybe it's design to run this way...who knows

And I agree with you on Magic 105.3

Sorry to offend anyone who likes Magic 105.3, but being from Houston and visting San Antonio a couple of times a year for the past several years, I agree Magic 105.3 certainly could use some help. The "currents" they have in a higher rotation are all a year old. When I was there last month, they were playing all of the Kelly Clarkson songs from 2005 over and over. Same old 80's songs, just like Cox's 106.9 The Point here. I have always thought the same thing, that Magic 105.3 should be more of a Modern AC. But, 10 years from now, we will probably still be saying the same thing.

Maybe AC underperforms in SA because KONO plays an unusually high amount of classic AC for an oldies station, not to mention that several markets don't have oldies stations these days and AC might get some additional share by default in no-oldies markets.

In a recent sample hour KONO played songs such as

Bread-Make It With You
Mac Davis-Baby Don't Get Hooked On Me
Jackson 5-I'll be There
BJ Thomas-Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head
Carpenters-Close To You
Diana Ross-Ain't No Mountain high Enough
Simon and Garfunkel-Bridge Over Troubled Water

KONO playing these songs hurts AC, KQXT in particular.
