Who said shameless promotion and PR work was a thing of the past? You GO hamNcheese!

Not sure about that. Never played in the band....never worked for ESPN.

Although I worked in the studio next to Jim Romes office. ;)

that might be considered self-promotion by some...I but I dont see too much coming out of it. Im sure I ll be eating Top Ramen and Baloney Sanwiches all week long. Warm tap water. mmmmmm!

Rucker is a personality? On what station? Does he do morning or evening drive? VT?

Hell...I though he was an artist. Shows what little I apparently know.

I think he may have been on ESPN or some sports talk program before....Im thinking he has been on ESPN tv before too, maybe for the U.S. open a year or two ago. In fact, Im positive of it. I remember thinking 'why is darius rucker on espn?' guess he is expanding on his resume. good for him.

The music video for the Hootie & The Blowfish song "Only Wanna Be With You" featured several ESPN personalities, including Dan Patrick (the video opens with a "SportsCenter" parody) and Chris Berman (the video closes with a derivative of his trademark "could... go... all... the... way..." line). The video also featured athletes such as Dan Marino.

The band got caught up in a legal bind with Bob Dylan concerning actual content in the song, but that's another story for another thread...

Caught the mike & mike replay that Mr.Rucker guest hosted today on ESPN tv. Was surprised to learn that he got his degree in Broadcast Journalism from USC.

And I wont hold the whole 'Yankee' hater thing against him.
