SABRES PLAYOFF ACTION: 550AM. 930AM, 107.7FM

And I love the Ted Black show...then Terry Pagula's show is awesome...the only thing better is when Ralph Wilson is on. Now that's awesome radio. I hear there's a new clown show...now that should be a blast!

In the car last evening in the Amherst/Williamsville neck of the woods I thought 107.7 FM came in real clear, then later on I switched over to 550 AM when the signal started to break up as I headed north.

intheeeno is looking to hit Kramer more often than Patrick Kaleta is featured on the Carruba Collision of the Sabres game. ;D

I am puzzled by how the tri-mulcast is being managed. I guess I understand not airing the pre-game show on WBEN/WLKK, but last night after the winning goal, RJ had barely finished his call when Entercom dumped out of the play-by-play for the Brian Koziol show. It was anti-climactic, disjointed, and jarring. Koziol did about a 30-second post-game setup before going to break. At that point, WBEN bailed completely and went to Jim Bohannon "already in progress." Nice job of local programming :)

I was enjoying the broadcast on FM, and it disappeared at the very moment you'd want to savor the win. Not to mention a blown opportunity to create additional positive associations with the station on FM. Just horrible. I switched to Jack.

If Entercom's strategy is point is to protect as much TSL as possible on WGR, why bother at all with the additional stations?

I was also listening to the broadcast on 107.7 FM and was totally surprised it disappeared literally seconds after Game 5 ended.

Horrible decision to dump out just like that.

I immediately switched over to 1270 AM.

Who makes that call?

Is it the board-op, Brian Koziol or someone else at the station in the role of an executive producer or game day producer?

I don't know why some here think this a big mystery. It was announced going into the playoffs that the games would be broadcast by the three stations and that the pre- and post-game shows would air only on WGR. I guess I'll admit that if I was listening to the game on 107.7, it might be jarring for the broadcast to suddenly end after the final horn. Please, these decisions are not being made by a board op or Brian Koziol. When the games end on WBEN, it's back to regular programming. If you want to hear player comments and the Ruff news conference, tune in 550.

Yeah...I think the board Op made the decision just after he signed all the payroll checks, sent in the projections to Corp. and checked the EOE file....

Still question the wisdom. Where I was listening, 107.7 was "5 by" and 550 was hash. Why not stay at least through a couple breaks - as long as the other network stations? There's no value at all in switching away that quickly to syndication.

It doesn't make sense to me. I thought they were doing the three stations in order to get more of the region covered.......So, if somebody needs to listen to it on 107.7 or 930 and can't get it on 550, why deny them the postgame show?

I think the primary reason is to get exposure to WBEN on FM. They've lived with GR's coverage pattern for years, and that was never reason enough for them to add stations on in the past. It's also possible that they are concerned about their network affil in Rochester.
