SACRAMENTO DID OK BUT NOT PERFECT WITH MICHAEL JACKSONS DEATH

I was out of town [San Diego] and decided to stream various stations in my hometown to hear how michael jackson coverage was going. I heard tributes and the like almost immediately on KBMB, KSFM, KDND, KHYL, and KCCL. I heard nothing on KGBY, KYMX, KQJK, and classic [whatever their calls are].

5 out of 9 ain't bad I guess????? It really needs to be 9 out of 9 but what can we expect with all these stations that are tracked or jockless?

Flood waters could be rushing through the city, the mayor could be nabbed in Peru with hookers and the Kings could win the NBA title all in the same day and KQJK would still be pumping out the same tired old songs framed by the same tired quips from "auto-man" with no mention of any of it. These "formats" are the devil.

Now did you really expect KNCI , the WOLF , the Fish to tribute a salute Micheal Jackson? pretty much the stations that play MJ on a steady non-curent basis did what the did appropriately.

No one said they expect KNCI, the WOLD, or the Fish to do tributes, but My 92.5, Classic 93.1, and Mix 96 should have done something. They all play Michael and/or Jackson 5 music. My and Classic are both CC Premium Format Channels, and Mix is tracked in afternoon drive, so that explains that. Jack FM also plays MJ but I guess we've learned to expect Jack FM plays what he wants, even when the world around him is on a different planet. GO JACK!

After "Black And White " his remaining hit songs were becoming more and more AC. During the Free Willy days...he was getting more AC play then the other formats. But his sales were starting to wane then , and pretty much that wasn't the best of hit product that Mix or KGBY really had to offer. The tabloid days. probably why they felt it wasn't much of an influence of their format or audience compared magic, the Bomb, etc.
What's interesting...did the End feature his music?, or how much of it?

KKBZ 105.1 in Fresno, a hard, heavy metal Classic Rock station played 2 MJ songs, Thriller and Beat It right when the news was released. In Fresno and Merced KHIT,KOKO,KBOS,KMGV,KSEQ,and KHTN in Merced had marathons of MJs music.

I think you just wanna be startin' something! (Sorry, couldn't resist.)

Somehow, I've found it very hard to get into the Michael Jackson thing. I've heard some in this Sacramento market try to cover it, whether from a musical point of view on FM, or whether from a talk show point of view on AM, and some of it sounds forced.

So opposite to Michael Jackson's keep on with the force, of "Don't Stop till you get Enough,"
please stop,
because I've had enough.

If ever there was a time I wanted to embrace the American shrinking attention span that we'll forget about something in 48 hours or less, it is now.

I felt a lot more for the loss of James Brown.
I feel good, I knew that I would.
