Yes this is a Sacramento story too as he worked a long time or was on KFBK.

The plea change is quite a surprise and he must have some agreement with the prosecutors.

Any thoughts as to why he is making this change now?

Don't expect him back on KGO as he will not be available.

Bernie Ward will have his say after any sentencing. It's a shame when one man's research does him in. So much speculation as to why they went after him now. A big voice silenced during a major election. Hopefully, a blog or website will have his comments if one doesn't have them already.
I for one...looking forward to hearing Bernie again!
 
my understanding is that bernie never said that he didn't do it. he did, however state that he was doing it for research purposes. my guess is that he changed his plea for a lesser sentence. poor guy. that's not the way i wanted to see him go (and i'm sure he feels the same way). he's a very nice guy. i've talked with him a couple times, on and off the air. once when i was a kid. he's definitely not some wierdo pervert. i hope things will work themselves out.

Ahhhhh, falling for the ol' research excuse, eh?

If you've bothered to read about this saga, you'd know the "research" BS was just that.

Read the transcripts of his AOL communications and then tell me about "research".
 
the ole research excuse holds some water, from what i've read, there's evidence that he's been writing about this kind of thing for quite some time. he's certainly been talking about it. it probably won't hold up in court though.

cm, are you actually familiar with bernie ward? or are you just reading this story and forming your opinion based on just this and maybe a 5 minute tune-in on KGO.

yes the argument is flimsy to some, but it's just one side to the story. obviously bernie isn't openly talking about this under the direction of his legal team. the truth will come out soon.
 
This whole thing gets more bizarre. Did anyone hear the Brian Copeland show today? On his KGO show today, Brian Copeland went off on the Bernie Ward issue topic. Copeland stated with certainty that Bernie was NOT doing research and confessed many years ago that he had been doing "bad things" with his computer. Bernie broke down in front of Copeland and threatened suicide. Copeland continued on that Bernie was caught "masturbating on the air." Bernie later apologized, stating he was having computer sex with a woman.... Strange.....

downloaded the Sunday 9-10 a.m. hour (archived through this Sat night, 5/24):
