Sacramento HD Radio

92.5 is not running any HD-Radio signals at all! There used to be both 1 and 2 but now its gone.

The HD-radio signal on 93.1 is louder than the main channel audio. It needs improvement just a bit. There is no HD-2 signal on the new 93.1 at all.

KNCI-FM 105.1 has three HD signals.

96.9, 98.5, 102.5, 106.5, and 107.9 each have HD-1 and 2.

V-101 has just HD-1 running at the present time, used to be 1 and 2. No HD radio on 92.1, 94.7 (94.7 used to have HD 1 and 2), 96.1, 100.5, 101.9, 103.9.

Out of all the HD-2 signals 106.6 has the best music. IMHO.

Did CC discontinue their secondary HD Channels? In Stockton, KQOD-100.1 HD-2 is no more and the same for KOSO-93.1 HD-2, or at least before the June 1 move to 92.9

Planning on visiting Sacto. over July 4 weekend....

What's on 92.5 HD-2??

Also, is there anything on the new 93.1's HD-2??

Thanks.

Until the fcc grants a power increase for HD it's doomed in it's current configuration and if they DO increase HD power it will screw up the analog signal. the current configuration is a total mess and failure. Broadcasters have spents hundreds of thousands of dollars on the HD transmitters and after several years still nobody cares.

From what I hear Europe has a much better HD Radio system. I also find it amazing all these great 50KW am stations still have that awful "Hiss" from HD.

I'm curious, is HD radio compressed like regular radio, or just like CD'S? I always notice how much better a song sounds on CD than the radio (aside from the limitations of FM)

If it is compressed, it (IMO) takes away the whole point of HD radio

The definition of "compressed" becomes ambiguous with the advent of HD. Audio compression (i.e. processing) is still performed on the HD signal, though it is generally not as aggressive as the analog signal, depending on the individual audio chain at the station. But HD radio now incorporates digital compression, which can create different artifacts. Either one definitely sounds different than a CD, but exactly how is really dependent on lots of things. Bottom line, you have to let your own ear judge.
