Sacramento Radio Board

It appears the Sacramento radio board has been taken over by Clear Channel's Premium Choice. Expect some generic postings from Cleveland soon minus the call letters. :'(

Pretty sad when the only thing to discuss is the amount of hiss on KFBK because the HD is back on...or how KHLX sounds worse than a tin can connected to a string coming from the speaker.

It's a reflection of the sucky radio that exists in the Sacramento market. I can't tell you how many times I flip through the dial only to find crap. There are few exceptions. Armstrong & Getty, and Mark & Brian, are sometimes great in the morning. Rush and Tom Sullivan are usually good. Dog and Joe, and Boondock, are great in the afternoon (Not that I like "all" music on 98Rock or KSFM). Other than that, it's just "blah blah blah" and OK music. :(

I've been listening to Rob Arnie and Dawn a lot lately

Sorry Travis, I can't stand RA&D. It is a typical morning zoo: guy that tries to sound smart, redneck, and laughbox. If I listen to more than 5 seconds, my head starts to explode (like Scanners!). Even the other talent on 98Rock don't like them, especially Rob. What's interesting is RA&D don't actually work for the station (or so I've heard). I'm sure the station gets a cut of sales revenue. Since it costs the station nothing to run this zoo, it's probably difficult to justify dumping them. Of course I realize they do have a big following, myself not included. ::)

I'm the first to admit that musical tastes vary for everyone, but I haven't found anything in SAC that's even close to KVMR in terms of presenting something new & exciting to their audience. The signal is pretty bad, but it's worth a listen if you can get it.

KVMR is from up in Grass Valley, Its not even ment to be a Sacto Rimshot

It's stronger than you think. Not strong enough for office workers with headphone radios, but it stops the "seek" function on my stock Chevy pickup radio throughout Sacramento. If it weren't for HD interference from KQEI it would be solid.

This may be the lamest comment ever on this board. Entercom doesn't pay for Rob, Arnie & Dawn? Are you mental? Get your facts straight before posting such drivel.

I won't be as mean spirited like Manny but I do agree with Manny. I am almost sure the "Rob, Arnie & Dawn syndicate their own show. I know the Reno station, they broadcast on is a Lotus Station (KDOT-104.5), not Entercom.

I used to pick up KVMR here in the East Bay before KZCT Vallejo came on a few months ago

Nice comment from your over-inflated ego.

Of course Entercom pays RA&D. I heard they're not inhouse emloyees, but contractors. R contracts with the stations. R pays A&D. If not, then the one who told me is wrong. :p

Re: KVMR and Sacramento:

KVMR had a translator in the Arden Fair Mall area in the 1990s, atop the studio building on Howe Avenue that had KSFM/102.5 and KSMJ/1380 at the time. Jerry McKenna (KSFM/KSMJ GM) helped set up the translator, IIRC.

I believe 99.3 Grass Valley knocked that translator off the dial.
