I'm still around, too, but like John, just not in radio. At all. Maybe someday I'll return, but after a quarter of a century at it, I'm in no hurry to dive back into the abuse and sh---- wages. I'm doing something now that I see myself doing for the duration, and it pays better (shocker!) than radio ever did.
Like Stage 5 the Clingin' Chick, getting fired was the best thing that happened to me. I still sometimes miss the morning news gig on KTKZ, but remembering the non-stop politics and incompetence flourishing in a vacuum behind the scenes at the Salem Sac cluster takes care of that in a jiffy. Not to mention being expected to do the jobs of 6 different people, and God forbid something gets missed and slips through the cracks. What a pressure cooker. An unhealthy place to work.
