Sacramento Radio Market

It sure is quiet in here are you all lonely? And by the way that tower light is still out KSTE. It's getting close to 30 days ya know. Where is everyone? Or have you all been downsized?

wellllll,

sounds like the zone is starting to add more hip hop,

lady goo goo or whatever is in heavy rotation over there.

I'm still here, but have been out of radio since the Metro layoffs last August. Right now I'm working fulltime, just not in radio

I'm still lurking about, awaiting my trip Saturday to see the RiverCats play and hear Johnny Doskow
on my G.E. Superadio @ 92.1 MC while at Raley Field...

hi kids...got the website rolling big time now. looking at streaming traffic reports in the next week or two. Sac biz journal's going to do an article on it next week or the week after. Was in All Access a couple of weeks ago. Have seen Arlo Guthrie, Zappa Plays Zappa here and Santa Rosa, Pink Floyd Laser show, Leon Redbone, a bunch of club stuff, and a ton of movies, all comped for the site's review page. And have gone surfing indoors and racing go carts at RPM, all comped too for review purposes. I've had over 180,000 hits in 2 months, and I've never been happier.

I'm so glad I got fired from CBS and Metro. It was the best thing that's ever happened in my whole life.

Check out my creation at http://www.inewsandtraffic.com

hugs and kisses,

S5C ;D

Great job on the web site content! Those ribs looked good too.

Thanks dudes. There's more to come. I'm flying a helicopter next weekend for a review of a helicopter excursion and training school. And I'm hitting a bunch of concerts in the next couple of months ie. Derek Trucks, No Doubt, Nickelback, Susan Tedeschi w/ Los Lonely Boys, Jonas Bros. (I have a 9 year old daughter), a Led Zep cover band @ Crest, and possibly the ZZ Top/Aerosmith Tour. I have someone working on Journey for me too. I'm also doing a bunch of fairs and other public appearances in the next couple of weeks. I'm exhausted...

but I'm glad you guy like the site kuz I work really hard on it everyday.

Nice to hear Andy Hawks with music in the mornings on KWOD-106. But it would be ever better if it was Scott and Sims and The Morning Retort instead.

The problem with the "100% music in the morning" idea is there's no reason to turn on the radio. I think Andy sounds good, but when you have a show like Carolla you make it a point to tune in. Most days I now forget to turn on the radio before I get to work... I'm either listening to cds or podcasts. With a show like Carolla's I made sure to tune in every day. I realize that ship has sailed, my point is that you need to build a station around an entertainment/content focused show so people make an appointment to start their day with you every day. That won't happen for KWOD until they invest in another true morning show... despite the fact that with PPM, mornings are less important than previously believed from a listenership standpoint, they're NOT less important from an image and emotional standpoint.

I'm still around, too, but like John, just not in radio. At all. Maybe someday I'll return, but after a quarter of a century at it, I'm in no hurry to dive back into the abuse and sh---- wages. I'm doing something now that I see myself doing for the duration, and it pays better (shocker!) than radio ever did.

Like Stage 5 the Clingin' Chick, getting fired was the best thing that happened to me. I still sometimes miss the morning news gig on KTKZ, but remembering the non-stop politics and incompetence flourishing in a vacuum behind the scenes at the Salem Sac cluster takes care of that in a jiffy. Not to mention being expected to do the jobs of 6 different people, and God forbid something gets missed and slips through the cracks. What a pressure cooker. An unhealthy place to work.
