Sacto TV gets it. Radio is in the fog.

With the proliferation of digital sub channels MeTv, RTV, This TV, and Antennta TV all airing retro programming of one type or another and carrying advertizing generally aimed at an older audience, please explain to me again why a nostalgia type format would not work here.

narrowcasting is the bane to radio. Localize a webstation and app it to cell phones and stream it to cars sooner rather than later and it can work for you.

Radio is free and costs for 1000 listeners the same as for one listener so it has a competitive advantage but if you can find the profitable niche that radio leaves behind as it opens it playlist to attract as many listeners as it can then do it. Of course your costs are exponetial as you gain listeners but you will know what one listener costs you. Just hope you can make enough to offset.

But it must be localized for Sac and commuters(in car listening) and have reasons for your community to go to your website all the time in odrder to compete against radio. I have the ideas; anyone have the investment capitol???

I believe that people have to want to listen to the station and not just stumble onto it because it was there.
