Sad day at Renda

Hey Big Jack-
Hope all is well in Bama. Was down Louisiana way for my grandson's birthday party in March. Was sure nice to be back in the deep south. I do dearly love it. The food, the people, the south. I feel so much at home there. Oklahoma is home and it is where my heart is. I am truly glad I live no further north. It's not the people. It's the weather! Nine months of snow and 3 months of bad snowmobilin'! My first radio gig was in Midland, Michigan. Fun but very cold.

The Oklahoma radio blogs are held in pretty high esteem nationwide believe it or not. One reason why is the absence of politics. I don't care who your party affiliation is, just do me a favor and leave out the damned politics. I'm sure you're probably a pretty nice person and I'm not trying to be arrogant, but let's not sully our blogs with politics. We may as well be talking about raw sewage.

I just wished that the banks would go ahead and repo several station in the market (the bad part for sure) and get it over with so they can be sold for more of what they are worth to someone LOCAL that cares. There has been a whole lot of overpaying going on for years and years, compounded to the point the blue sky B.S. IS the investment, not the station. Cuts are the result of trying to pay that back. If we see some nice defaults eventually we'll have radio again instead of the horse crap that's currently substituting for it.

What do you think will happen when Mr. Renda quits or leaves this world? Does he have children to take over?
That could be the time when the stations will be sold off in OKC and Tulsa. He has had offers over the years. Could be the best thing to happen to the employees. I'm sure he could get good money for selling both markets even in the current economy.

Tony has the majority of his family working for him. Chances are, unless the banks repo it. the company will be ran by one of his family members. Depending on who got it, fam member or another owner, things could get a lot better without Tonys sorry self.
