As was reported, David Haley suffered a stroke last Sunday and has been in a hospital in Oxford, MS.
Last Thursday morning (5/1) he was removed from life support, and today (5/3) the beloved label executive passed away. At this time, funeral arrangements are still pending.
It’s with a heavy heart, that AllAboutCountry shares this news and the sadness felt by all of our radio and record label friends. Haley was the PD of a Jackson, MS Country station WJQS, when he took the leap into record promotion in 1984. That led to 17 years with MCA during its very successful time period, where Haley rose to SVP/Promotion. He also was SVP/Promotion at Warner Bros. Nashville for four years.
In addition, Haley headed up promotional activities for Equity, Tenacity, Edgehill and InstiGator. Haley had a star studded career. He and his teams worked on over 149 No. 1 singles and they had a combined 234 weeks at the top of the charts. Last July they held a retirement party for David.
During his years in this business Haley influenced so many people and touched the hearts and souls of so many.
