Sad News-Donna Rose

It's with much sadness that I pass along word that Donna Rose died today.

We worked together for so many years at WJLK & WJLK-FM in the 1980s.

Before that, Donna worked at WJRZ-FM.

Recently, she had been employed at The Breeze and WHTG-FM.

For those who worked with Donna, she was an original and a professional in the best sense of those words.

She put up a hell of a fight to the end and died trying to put her friends at ease.

I shall miss her.

Donna was an incredible woman—the best in this business and the best as far as friends are concerned. Donna was a true professional in every sense of the word—and I learned from one of the best how to do my job. But on a personal level, Donna was a self-less person. She always thought about everyone else over herself. Her friends and family were very important to her. All she ever wanted was to see others happy. If they were happy, then she was too. And whatever she could do to help people achieve their happiness, she was there. She never let you down. I have never ever met anyone so wonderful—such a giver, never a taker. For those of you who had a working relationship with Donna or a friendship, or both, as in my case, then you know what an extraordinary person she was—strong, loving, supportive, positive and oh, so caring. For those of you who didn’t know her, just understand she was the best. I miss you so much, dear friend. I don’t know what I’m going to do without you. I don’t know who I’m going to talk to, who I’m going to seek out for advice or who I’m going to laugh with—but I know you are watching over me and you’ll always be there. I love you! Rest in peace “BIG L”.

Thanks for posting this Shawn. What a great news team we had at WJLK through the 80's...and Donna was a big part of it. As our Ocean County bureau reporter, she had it all covered thanks to her great working relationships with sources and her ability to sniff out the news. From election night coverage to the Robert Marshall murder trial, from storm coverage to the Haunted Mansion fire at Great Adventure, she left no stone unturned with each story she covered.

She was great to work with and always looked to brighten up the newsroom. Some of my fondest memories are working alongside her in morning drive (we both looked like we just rolled out of bed, but she was the one with the bunny slippers). On a personal level, she was a great friend, a quit wit, fun to be with and had one of the warmest smiles you will ever see. I miss that smile already.

Blessings Donna.

> > I am shocked and overwhelmed. Donna and I were friends dating back to the late 80's. She was a funny, self-less, caring, genuine person. I met her after being fired from one of my many radio jobs, and I was in a bad way. She wasn't doing too well financially at the time, but she gave me food, rides, an encouraging word, plenty of laughs and her unrequited friendship. She went thru alot of hard stuff in the 90's herself, but she never let it get her down, she had that glass half full, sunny optimism that allowed her to plow forward to get over the rough patches. i last talked to her a few months ago, and she didn't even tell me she was sick. I feel so badly for losing touch when she moved back down to the shore. Does anyone know funeral arrangements or is it too late? Anyways, just wanted to put in my 2 cents, she was a special lady and there will be alot of people out there who miss her smile, her silly laugh and her great sense of humor...
