Sad news for KFXM.

It has to be more than transmitter issues, why would you have all means of reaching your station completely shut off; At the very least, record a message for phone callers letting them know about the situation, and the ability to leave a voicemail.

Unfortunately, this sounds too much like any other place that has just gone out of business.

Just having transmitter issues would not explain disconnected phone line and bounced emails.

Giving this thought, if KFXM is a one person operation, perhaps it might be a medical issue (maybe a heart attack, injured i a car accident, etc.). I know of stations that have been affected by wildfires. Normally when it all goes south like KFXM it is a lack of money.

All I know is he is playing Ann Murray from 1978 up until 1984. (Long after KFXM went off the air) Chris can bend the rules it's his station

Being a one man show, and this being mostly a hobby station for him, sounds like he may be too busy to deal with the office details, and running the regular format for streaming. Playing a loop of the same 3 artists while dealing with technical issues is easier for him. Maybe, he could use a volunteer to help out.

To 30james:: living in the area, and having a good amount of care and concern for KFXM, might be a radio opportunity for you as a volunteer.

Frequency 1 knows how to contact Chris. Frequency 1 can u ask Chris if he needs volunteers. And also why a ride in the country program is no longer being played. Thanks. Freq

Love Anne Murray. Anka yuck.
Hey now, Paul had some very good, listenable hits in the late 50's. He's not as bad as you think he is. Ever hear "Lonely Boy" and "My Heart Sings" (both huge Los Angeles #1 songs) ? I agree on Anne Murray too.

He also had "Having My Baby" in '74 which often ends up on lists of most hated songs ever.

And you know why? Because originally it was called "Having Our Baby". Some record company jerk said change it to "Having My Baby" knowing it would gin up a lot of complaints & controversy from female listeners thereby causing it to be talked about, thereby selling more records. Be glad the record company jerk didn't want a novelty record hit otherwise it'd be called "Having My Gerbil"

I suppose that would be his huge comeback with Coates by 1974 and a big #1 that year, but yeah Paul’s better stuff was before.

I recall an interview with Anka at the time where he was asked about the negative female reaction to the song title. His response was something along the lines of “go through a divorce and you’ll find out whose baby she thinks it is.”

Update: KFXM is off the air again. Chris is losing alot of listeners. And they probably won't come back once he's on air again. As well as sponsors. I have a feeling this is a serious issue with his transmitter.

I forgot to mention the sign for KFXM for it's studio in Lancaster is gone. Frank Berry what's your opinion about KFXM? No phone for request no phone for sponsors do you think KFXM is History?

Here's the thing: LPFM transmitters are cheap. A Nautel LPFM transmitter (arguably the Cadillac in this market) goes for $5,000, and lesser brands unsurprisingly cost less. Hiring a contract engineer would eat up $5,000 pretty quick, so if there is a reoccuring problem it is probably time to replace..

Obviously $5k is probably a lot to an LPFM, but if they can't afford an outright replacement, they were probably not in a great spot at the beginning.

Chris is a very qualified engineer. I would think that parts are hard to get. There is a supply issue with everything. I tried to order some broadcast equipment and was told that shipping is between 10-12 months. I will call him tomorrow.

The station, at least online anyway, seems like it's back to normal now.
