Sad News--The passing of Sandy G

I'm sorry to report the passing of Sandy G, who did the Saturday Night Oldies show for Press Broadcasting for years....first on WJLK, and then on NJ 101.5.

Sandy was one of the first friends I made at 101.5. He had a great, dry sense of humor, which, unfortunately, a lot of people didn't "get". That was their loss.

I'm very glad that we got to speak for the first time in years, this fall, when I was subbing for Jay at WJRZ.

RIP, my friend.

Condolences to his wife Dolores, as well as Sandy's family.

Here's the obit from the Asbury Park Press:

Sad news indeed. He was one of the first jocks I remember listening to on NJ101.5 after moving to New Jersey in the summer of '91. My condolences to Sandy's family and his many radio friends.<P ID="signature">______________

My very first night on New Jersey 101.5, March 31, 1991, I followed Sandy. Decent man, acerbic sense of humor, and, boy, did he love his doo-wop. He loved it so much that he would work a full shift at the Toms River P.O. (he was a manager there) and then drive 40 miles to do a six hour show every Saturday night. Rest in peace, Sandy. I hope you're hangin' with Frankie Lymon..........
